Garrett is a beast, but expecting him to fix one of the worst defenses in college football in his freshman season is pretty stupid.

Yeah, play it off but you come off as pretty pathetic. Like half of the first page is you trying to disregard that LSU snagged a blue chip player from texas.

How do you have any idea he won't be the same caliber as Speedy? He's 6'4" with an 80 inch wingspan, and national 24/7 analysts say he'll make a strong push for 5*. Speedy Noil is a legal midget compared to Anderson.

why do LSU fans spend so much time comparing every single receiver prospect y'all get to Speedy? WGAF? Move on. She doesn't love you any more.

I think Dee Anderson is much more of a James Russel type prospect.

No one is expecting him to do it alone. He's just the most visible reason for why we'll be better. Do you realize that the team lead for sacks last year was 3? Garrett will get that in his sleep.

All across the front 4, we're significantly bigger and more talented than last year.

No Aggie is saying we're going to be elite, but assuming we're not going to improve at all on defense is pretty simplistic thinking.

Who said that you won't improve? Hell, Arkansas is likely to improve too, but they will still suck.

I really wish this Speedy BS would die.The kid was never interested in coming to LSU and is a much better fit for A&M.LSU got a much better WR prospect in Dupre for the type of offense they run.

Most non-Aggies seem convinced that the defense CAN'T improve SIGNIFICANTLY. This is simplistic thinking. This defense isn't going to rank in the 100s this year, but almost everyone seems certain it will.

I don't think most Aggie fans realize just how bad the defense was last season. Had the offense been average, the numbers would have been even worse.

We watched the games. I have no idea why you think we don't understand how bad the defense was. Believe it or not, most long-time Aggie fans grew up with a particular appreciation for good defense, because in our best years, we were known as a defensive team. We know that if the 2013 defense had been merely average, we're looking at a 2-loss season, at worst. The horrors of the 2013 defense are burned into our skulls.

So, you are expecting a Auburnesque turnaround this season?

that's just on this page of the thread, all from different posters. And 2 of those are after I pointed it out. I don't know if there was some kind of meeting or what, but it's pretty clear that the official party line for any WR discussion is to compare any LSU player or recruit to Speedy Noil, someone who has never played a down of collegiate football. I really don't have a problem with y'all using our Freshman WR as the measuring stick for greatness, but it borders on psychosis at this point.
