Charles Power

PROJECTION
2-3 Round
DAY 2
COMPARISON
A'Shawn Robinson
DETROIT LIONS
Stoutly built defensive lineman with a well-proportioned build. Doesn't carry much bad weight on his frame despite already being around 300 pounds. Has registered as a good athlete for the position with strong short area quickness and burst in combine settings prior to his junior season. Works as a two-way lineman at Belleville and has played both ways at camps early in his career before settling in as a defensive tackle prospect. Plays with a high-level combination of first-step quickness and strength at the point of attack. Shows the ability to create disruption as an interior pass rusher with the burst off the ball paired with a low pad level. Has active hands and already developed technically with effective push-pull and rip moves at this stage. Also shows the strength in his base to anchor and make plays as a run defender. Can continue progressing as from a production standpoint on the defensive side (plays both ways) and as a pursuit defender. Projects as a multi-year starter at the Power Five level with the upside to develop into an early-round NFL Draft selection.

This has been a weird recruitment.
Ohio state was on him early and then communication stopped.
I always find it odd when big stars from the Midwest leave the region without even heavily flirting with one of Notre dame/Michigan/Ohio state.
This has a Laquon treadwell/Clifton Garrett feel to it

From everything I've heard, his school's coaching staff are difficult to work with. Both OSU and Michigan backed off.

this is def true about belleville's staff. however michigan has gotten some kids out of there the past couple of seasons and so i wouldn't blame the HS staff completely.
just a strange recruitment. plenty of kids from the midwest go south but its always interesting when the midwest schools push back from the table.

Maybe he wanted out of the midwest and was just honest about it with coaching staffs?

Yeah I bet you do.. lol

Absolutely. Who knows. Still just odd that he barely pays lip service to the local schools and vice versa.
In contrast to guys like Devonta smith, Jackson Carmen and Corey kiner. Just different.
When local teams are barely involved it’s always curious

I'd be more surprised if he was an Ohio kid, but SEC programs have been plucking kids from Michigan for a while.
Justin Rogers was kind of similar the class before - picked Kentucky and looked at Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia.

What exactly are you trying to say? That all the schools passed on him? He isn’t good enough? What is interesting, curious, odd etc about it?

I get what he’s saying. If a 5 star kid from AL signed with OSU and we didn’t hardly recruit him, that would be sort of strange.

It’s kinda like Dylan Brooks.

There is nothing really odd about Dylan brooks. Alabama has better pass rushers on the board. With one committed. I’m just curious what this guy is actually trying to say.

Payne lives in Detroit and has Alabama,Arizona St,USC and Auburn in his top group. I think he wants the hell away from there and 300miles south to Columbus might not be attractive.

Word on the street is saban has him rated as the number 1 overall player on his board for the entire country. He must really like his upside
