These things have to be handled one at a time. Because the charges were dropped doesn't specifically mean that he's innocent or guilty. You can't rush to judgement based on charges alone without looking at the evidence.
Last year we had a football player charged for assaulting his girl friend. As it turns out, she had actually hit him numerous times and he took it without hitting her back, just like it has been preached to the players to do.
