2006's USC class didn't win it, but they were good enough to do so. To answer your question, I think the services can do a good job picking out elite prospects, of which #1 classes are made. Once you get past the top echelon guys is where it gets fuzzy. Also, as SunHog earlier stated, talent is only part of the championship equation.

IDK. A lot of times JUCO guys take two years to adjust to D1 as well. Just a different speed in the SEC.
In the long run, we needed some LB's more than we needed DGB. Would've love to get him but it's not the end of the world.
