I think it's nice, but as it's a PR maneuver and was a zero risk move (medical scholarships that Saban has wielded like a surgeon for years don't count towards 85), I don't think it's that noteworthy.

Gene Chizik signed a guy who later was diagnosed with cancer...and then gave him a scholarship the next year, and the next year.

I've read that the likelihood of him playing again are slim to none, or between a rock and a hard place... Nonetheless, I hope he's able to play again someday, and at very least contribute something to the Alabama football program even if he can't on the football field.
