I thought you guys would get a kick out of this article. It's on The Athletic website and costs money but I'll post the highlights here.

quote:

What is the biggest misconception in recruiting?
SEC-1: “Simple. That recruits watch the outcome of games and think that they’re going to go to the place that wins. It’s the converse that is many times true. Because when we lose a game, we’ll have recruits call us and say, ‘If I were out there, you guys would have won that game.’ They don’t care about wins and losses.

quote:

Pac-12-1: “Probably that the history of a school and tradition and anything they have done previously in their history outside of the past five years matters to recruits.”

Eliah Drinkwitz got the second most votes for newest head coach to impress in recruiting. He's making it harder to go against Mizzou.

Of the 15 staffers, they all said that at least 50% of their recruiting class has not been evaluated in person. An ACC school had 85% and an SEC school said 95%

Nick Saban was far and away the best recruiting head coach with half the votes.

quote:

Are there advantages to not having kids visit?
MAC: “Yes. They don’t see our terrible facilities.”

ACC-1: “Yes, this way they don’t see our shitty gameday environment.”

The MAC staffer said that they miss more on their in person evals than on film so it may not mean much. But it sounds like it should be detrimental to the team later down the road so who knows.

I'm surprised it's only half. The GOAT should be higher.
