I read earlier today that our staff along with a few others had recently been in to see Jaren Sina.

In Scout's latest update to their 2013 rankings, Jaren Sina is #58, Jimmie Taylor is #79, and Alabama commit Shannon Hale is #90.

I expected Taylor to be a bit higher than that. I hope we can get Sina back, but I get the impression that his parents want him to stay in the Northeast.

I think Taylor will end up higher on Rivals and ESPN. I asked the scout guys what's holding Taylor back in the rankings...hopefully they'll answer. And I agree with you about Sina. I'd say it's Virginia and then us right now. Hopefully we can get him back though.

Here's a response I got about Taylor: Not much of a scorer, and only an average rebounder. Profiles as someone who will be a great rebounder, but has never showed that in viewings. Also has real narrow shoulders and adding weight will be an issue for him going forward.
He had a good summer, not a great summer.

And here is what Evan Daniels said about Hale: More of a face up guy right now. Outside shot isn't a strength. Good player though that is versatile.

I saw where your question (to Lunardi I think) got through on ESPN.
Taylor is the kind of front court player I want us to keep going after. He's apparently big Alabama fan too.

Yeah, I was proud of myself

Yeah, we really need an athletic 6'10 type guy. I think he'd excel for us due to his athleticism and ability to run the court. He's also Erwin Dudley's cousin so I'd be extremely pissed if he doesn't end up here.

I don't think we deserve anything better than an 8, especially right now.
I have us as a 9 or a 10 if the season ended tomorrow. We really need to get to 11 conference wins if we want to do much better than that IMO. Right now the biggest thing we have going for us is that we played a really difficult OOC schedule and it's keeping our RPI in the top 30. It would have been really nice if that Gtown a-hole's 3 had rimmed out.

I have always liked those kinds of players, but after watching Moultrie abuse us on the glass I think it's imperative that we get a couple of tall, long armed, athletic guys who can get us second chance points with more regularity.

Any word on Pollard? I see he just visited Texas and is still sched to visit State and Bama.

Telep said he wouldn't be surprised to see Pollard end up at MSU and his prediction will stay like that until he hears differently.

Taylor is #20 in ESPN's Super 60

In Evan Daniels's recruiting report, he stated that Anthony Grant was in to see 2013 PF Jarrell Martin LINK and that Martin will be visiting us sometime soon. Our staff has also been recruiting 2014 stud Jalen Lindsey very hard LINK
And as usual, we are still recruiting Devonta Pollard hard. He's already officially visited Texas and Missouri. We are still hard after Jimmie Taylor and Jaren Sina as well as keeping tabs with our 2013 commit Shannon Hale.

I'll ask around on twitter and see if I can find out.

Do you know anything about Detrick Mostella from Austin HS in Decatur,AL?
Posted on 2/9/12 at 4:28 pm to marshallcotiger
You asked the same question he did
I just asked Dan McDonald who was recruiting him. Hopefully he'll respond soon.
Posted on 2/9/12 at 4:47 pm to marshallcotiger
Dan said to me that a bunch of schools are on Mostella and that Bama has offered. I've heard and read before that he has a bit of an attitude issue and is lazy on defense, but he can score at will.

Are we looking at any JUCO bigs? It seems like we are basically going Pollard or nothing. I don't really like the idea of not bringing in anyone. That's how you end up with no upperclassman leadership 3 or 4 years down the road. Even if we have to bring in a lightly recruited kid who is a 3 or 4 year project it would be better than nothing.
