Green being a senior pretty much locks up the need for a pf, a juco pf would be ideal.
We'll just have to disagree on Retin.

Jacobs looks pretty Good at PF to me

Jacobs is more of a 5. He isn't athletic enough to play the 4.

What do you guys think about Luke Cothron? I remember a couple months ago he got a offer from Memphis. Just looked it up and supposedly he has offers from Baylor, Kansas, UNLV, and others.

We passed on him out of high school for a reason

Didnt know you had to be an athlete to play the PF. Kid isnt big enough to play the center.

Plus, we don't want just 1 pf on the roster, that's insane.

You need to be able to face up the defender and knock down mid range shots to play the 4 effectively. You also need to be able to score off the dribble occasionally. Green has the kind of skill set you want in a 4. Jacobs doesn't. He has exactly the kind of skill set, on offense at least, that you want in a 5. He knows how to position himself in the post, he has great touch around the basket, and he knows how to use his body to force the defender into a bad position. That all makes up for him being a bit on the short side. He has a lowish ceiling, but he's going to be a solid post player for us for 4 years.

Cothron is trying to get over lazy issues, but I can see Grant taking a chance on him.

Erwin Dudley, Chuck Davis, Richard Hendrix and non of them were super athletic and they all did work while at Bama! Maybe thats what you guys think is idea but not me. That slim athletic facing the basket type gets killed on the defensive end and thats why I like Jacobs. The faceup big man is for the NBA not college. Just look at Gueye. He tries to play that way and just about every time he gets the ball he loses it because no big man is going to be able to drive and faceup in the middle of a zone.

Dont see why he wouldnt if he got his act together. We could really use him.

His "highlight" film was one of the worst things I've ever seen.

Because it wasnt a highlight video, it was a scouting video. I know the video your talking about.

I'm no scout, but his shot looked terrible, he seemed like a bad teammate, and he didn't hustle.

Oh I agree the video on Rivals where he missed every shot. Dont know why they would do that but he has to be good to average the stats that he was averaging. Crazy thing is is that im from Huntsville and I never had heard of him.

He bounced around a lot. That's another red flag in recruits. Constantly moving around and transferring is not a good sign.

Is there a list of 2012 Juco player rankings? I cant find it anywhere

I talked to Greg Ostendorf tonight. He said he's going to try and do a basketball article every week at least so it wouldn't be a bad idea to get ESPN Insider.

Glad Greg isnt with Rivals anymore
