As far as Detrick Mostella I think there is no way we get him. On twitter he roots for whoever were going against lol. We need a transfer like Miss St. got. We really need to hit the Juco trail hard.

Yes they will need to, and they will have to find an under the radar guy. All the ranked JC players are signed already.

Well he's probably pissed we don't recruit him as hard as he feels we should. He has about a 1% chance of qualifying in 2013. His grades are that awful.

We seemed to be in the running for 3 or 4 really strong fowards and centers for the class of 2013. Which of these do we have the best chance of signing?

Hale is 6'8" and might still grow a bit.
We would have to really drop the ball for Jimmie Taylor not to commit to us.
Not sure about anyone else.

That sounds good. What are our chances at either Chris Walker or Jordan Mickey? They're 5 star post players on Scout that have us listed as one of their favorites. Walker is from the FL panhandle and Mickey is from the Dallas area.
Also any word on us getting Jaren Sina back in the fold?

quote:I'd say none really. He'll end up at UF, FSU, UK, or Ohio State IMO.
Chris Walker
quote:No idea who that is so I can't be of any help.
Jordan Mickey
quote:I'd say us and Virginia are his top two. We are still recruiting him very hard and I think have an assistant watching him most times he is on the court.
Jaren Sina
We're also going pretty hard after Jerrell Martin from Louisiana I think.
There's plenty of good prospects we've been mentioned with, but I can't think of names right off the top of my head.

I hated the whole J. Sina situation from the beginning. Just waiting for him to decommit

Eric Bossi posted on Tidesports that some guys Alabama is involved with are Tevin Glass and Anthony January, as well as Aaron Ross, who was a 2011 signee for Arkansas but didn't qualify.

Anthony January
championship.
Tevin Glass is one of those odd ones on rivals that you'll see from time to time in basketball in that he's ranked pretty high, a four star, 83 ranked player in the country, yet he has like no offers. Georgia State, etc. Is it grades, or just a bit of a strange ranking?
Aaron Ross seems the most ready size wise, as in the other two are like 6'8 190. That and he's had an extra year at prep school.

Glass is too skinny to be effective early on at a high major. Obviously he has a decent skillset, but colleges must not feel like that'll translate right off the bat. I think I'd take Aaron Ross over those two guys, or a good sized juco.

Yeah, Ross seems to clearly make the most sense. At least he's supposedly somewhere around 6'7 220 or so.

I wonder if his grades are in order to qualify? I'd love to see an update with him about who's recruiting him. I'll go to the Arkansas thread and see if they know anything.

Are there even any JUCO bigs left? This has been a strange recruiting cycle for basketball. Post players should be lining up to play for us. There is literally guaranteed playing time, and possibly a starting job, as a freshman. If we can't find some kid who can come in and rebound and defend the post, next year could be kinda rough. Unless Engstrom, Jacobs, and Gueye all make tremendous strides.

from a rivals article about a prep school tournament
"Finally, at about 6-foot-7, Ross is a crafty, below-the-rim scorer in the paint who can also step out and make some jumpers. He's got good strength and the former Arkansas signee seems to be getting a good figure of what his strengths and weaknesses are during his prep year at Delafield (Wis.) St. John's Northwest Military."

The fact that he seems physically ready, with an extra year of experience at prep school, seems to make him an obvious choice over the other two. Of course that's assuming he wants to come here/has his grades in order.

This just makes him Nick Jacobs with a jump shot.
The real question is, can he rebound and play defense?
Posted on 2/16/12 at 2:10 pm to Crede15
Yeah you would think this extra year would help his maturity and to get his body right. If we've offered, you'd think it'd be enticing to come right in and know you could play lots of minutes.

I would think he'd have to be more athletic than Jacobs but who knows, have any of use ever even seen a highlight?
