This only tangentially reminds me of the recruitment of Corey Nelson. Nelson was a 4-star linebacker from Dallas Carter who committed to A&M in 2009. He signed every one of his tweets "Mr. Texas A&M". 3 days before National Signing Day 2010, ESPNU got wind of him flipping to Oklahoma and announced it. Sherman and his staff called him to get an answer and Nelson lied to both him and the media, telling them he would sign with A&M 2 days later. All recruiting services announced he was committed to A&M. On NSD, he signed with Oklahoma.
It later turned out that he was instructed by Brent Venables to lie to the A&M coaching staff.
Of course, Nelson went 1-2 against A&M while at Oklahoma, losing by double digits in 2010 and 2012.
A certain individual with pubic hair on his face got so butthurt about it that he permanently banned anyone who questioned, "why would I pay for insider information when you get it so horribly wrong?"
Had this happened on national signing day in February, there would be a legitimate melt.

Oh I have no doubt some version of that happened with Christian Harris as payback for Jimbo flipping Bobby Brown on NSD in 2018.

O has always been a great recruiter but it seems he has risen to another level this year. I’m sure actually having an offense to talk about helps.

You're correct, they weren't technically committed to LSU, but were considerd silent commits or heavy leans. And you know who I'm talking about.
