Crystal balls were all for Texas, but the real UT gets the commit.

Knew LSU wasn't in it after they slow played him. Very surprised it wasn't Texas. Good get for the Vols.

Don’t get too fond of Jordan, Tennessee fans

He’s boys with a number of LSU commits, including his high school QB Rickie Collins

He has visited Texas like 5 times. Told the staff Texas was the pick less than 24 hours ago. Tennessee must have had a solid last minute pitch.

Come on gents - No need to troll on the recruiting board.

It was a nice pick up, but I don't think we're in a position to troll LSU over defensive backs given each programs recent success in identifying talent at that position.

Baton Rouge does smell though.

Because he's reasons...

He wants to develop as a CB to get to the NFL and wants to win a championship...

LSU has put over 20 DBs in the NFL since Tennessee's Eric Berry in 2010. 4 Tennessee DBs drafted since Berry.

Who cares? Are the same coaches in place at each school that led to said draft picks?

Is Corey Redmond still there to coach him up?

No neither is Ron Cooper.

Db coaches tend to do well at LSU

Corey Raymond was only the CB coach at LSU from 2017-2021 and was full DBs coach from 2012-2016. So he wasnt coaching Grant Delpit and Jacoby Stevens who were safeties drafted in 2020 and 2021.

We had Morris Caliborne go 1st round in 2012. Brandon Taylor and Ron Brooks 3rd and 4th round respectively same year. Patrick Peterson was a 1st round pick in 2011 and Chad Jones a 3rd round pick in 2010.

Corey Raymond didnt coach any of those guys.

It's almost like LSU puts DBs in the NFL despite the coach. LSU will continue to put DBs in the NFL post Corey Raymond just like we did pre-Corey Raymond and him also not coaching safeties his last few years here.

So Raymond coached 15 of the 20 who were drafted using the players you listed. Got it.

You're actually hurting your argument, but are too blind to see it.

Leave it at this. Skill positions like DB, WR, and RB grow on trees in LA.

13 of the 20 since apparently you cant count very well. Which means he didnt coach 7 DBs that got drafted in that specific time span.

Lets go back before 2010. LSU had these guys drafted at DB:

2009 - 7th round Curtis Taylor
2008 - 3rd round Chevis Jackson
2008 - 4th round Craig Steltz
2007 - 1st round Laron Landry
2005 - 2nd round Corey Webster
2005 - 4th round travis Daniels

Do I really need to keep going for you to get LSU produced a ton of NFL DBs outside of Corey Raymond?

And they don't in Tennessee which hasn't recruited nearly as well as LSU has so throwing out NFL draft picks skews things.

I'm not discounting LSU, they have put a ton of talent into the league since 2010. But you're bringing in all new coaches and a new system. Matthews very well could develop into an NFL draft pick at Tennessee.
