Juco recruiting can be very strange game.
He certainly isn't the standard but Mason Jones was the 13th best JUCO on 247 and Anderson was pretty late on him. I would guess by looking at that JUCO class now, he would be reranked as 1. Taylor was in his class and ranked 7th. It would be interesting to see where Mason was ranked on those other sites the year he was recruited.
But yeah, very strange

I think he is a good coach but last year did no favors for himself. They underachieved for sure, I'm not trying to say they need to fire him though.

Georgia's problem is they just had the #1 player in the country and didn't perform with him. They are in an uphill battle now for big time recruits. Especially when teams close around you are competing and winning in tournaments.....

Well, we brought in Fox who had no connection to the area and refused to hire anyone with connections when he got here. He could have hired the AAU coach that went to UCLA but he wanted to keep it clean.
Cream has done a much better job so we’ll see if he can improve on our embarrassing lack of recruiting.

The pro to Metro Atlanta is there are tons and tons of Power 5 level college basketball players.
The con to Metro Atlanta is that you have to recruit against the majority of the SEC and the majority of the ACC who are almost all within a car ride from the area (Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Florida State, UNC, NC State, Duke, Wake, Virginia, Virginia Tech) - not to mention national players having a consistent presence in the area and on their rosters.

I think Georgia made a mistake by not hiring Ron Hunter. He isn't a name like Crean but he is well known and liked in the Atlanta metro. He's not a guy who's going to win a NC but he could convince some of those highly ranked kids to stay and play for the state school and put UGA in the tournament more years than not. That would help build the brand so to speak and maybe in 10 years when it's time to hire again the job is appealing enough to land one of those few NC caliber coaches.
