I think he's originally from Cincinnati which makes it even more entangled.
This guy has obviously been on Jones' radar since he was kid and Jones was still coaching for Cinci. I'd say when his family moved South and Jones moved to UT it made a lot of sense for him - the relationship would've been there a long time. (I'm just guessing, FWIW but Jones has brought down some big recruits from Ohio and Midwest that he knew from when he was there and we even have players on the team now who were originally recruited by Jones when he was at Cinci, liked him a lot but didn't want to go Cinci over UT).
