MSU is likely only taking one more D-lineman and he's at Co-Lin right now, and a current Tennessee commit. If we get him and I think we will, Edwards will miss our boat.

That’s good to know. Edwards is a top want.

Edwards is not a take for state. Johnson will be committing to state Friday. I agree that he will probably open it back up. I also don’t think his teammate ends up at Oregon.

He’s at State right now and I predicted him to State earlier in the thread. I really don’t care if people think he ends up at Oregon or not. Unless you hear actual words from the recruit, it’s usually just projection. Duck fans are told this about every long distance recruit and 1/3 of the class is always just that. Oregon does get 5 to 6 decommits a cycle but it works in the end.

I am still impressed with Mississippi Mastro.

I understand your skepticism but Mississippi isn’t like other SEC states. It’s hard to pull them out of state to a different SEC team, much less halfway around the country. It’s just a different animal there

You say that but a ton of top prospects signed out of state last year. I want to say 3/4 of the top 10 but it’s fuzzy

You also have to remember, Edwards is literally a top priority. This is the worst DL class out west I have seen. We are all fighting for kids that wouldn’t even be considered until December. SC is taking kids that normally belong at the bottom of the conference.

Edwards is getting hit up everyday. That relationship will pay dividends. Johnson is another story. Oregon likes him at safety and his heart is at RB. Benson is more like Edwards. Oregon prioritized him from day 1 despite tons of talent. Out of 77 RBs evaluated, Mississippi Mastro liked him the most and he knows it. He showed him that by pursuing him like that since February.

Apparently Johnson didn’t make his visit to State today. Goddamn recruiting is fickle. Signs point to Oregon. Ultimately he opened up his recruitment though unless Oregon did one helluva job convincing him he’s a safety and damn good one at that. Kid is built like a brick.

Honestly we could take all the 86 composite played from the SEC region and wreck shop.

Do you know what position Mizzou is recruiting him as?

They just took their third back, so unless they are in serious need of backs, I assume it’s safety or let’s try you where you want.

Our RB Coach is his lead recruiter so I’m assuming it’s at RB with some sort of agreement that he could switch positions down the road.

We have 2 RB already committed but Young could also play in the slot so we have some flexibility with these guys.

Rountree will likely leave for the NFL so we might want to take 3 anyway

Well you are going to be recruiting Edwards again in 2 years. The reason State and Ole Miss aren't on him harder is because he's a mid 3 star talent going to Juco barring a miracle. His grades are awful.

If he announces for Oregon it will mean he has lied to everyone at MSU. It is recruiting so anything could happen but there are no signs pointing to him announcing for Oregon Friday.

Salty? Ok. Well good luck to you against Auburn. I hope you kick their arse and Phil Knight is cool too. Edwards is still going to juco and Dillon Johnson isn’t going to Oregon, but your school is badass and if we ever play y’all again in Eugene I hope I can make the trip.

Not true he did visit yesterday. Our 247 insider spoke to him on campus.
