An influx of young and tenacious recruiters to the head coaching ranks, as well as some of the most seasoned recruiters in the game has made the SEC one of the most competitive conferences on the recruiting trail over the past several years.

quote:

Name: Kennedy Chandler

Rank: No. 19

College Commitment: Tennessee

The Volunteers put a ton of focus into landing Chandler from the very beginning of his recruitment, and they were able to hold off all the blue bloods and land his commitment. Chandler is considered the top point guard in the class and is someone who has proven to be a winner on every level.

Not the biggest or most explosive player at his position, Chandler is someone who can get into the lane, he makes plays with the bounce, is a quality shot maker when left open, and he has a good feel for the game. He needs to continue to refine everything about his skill set, and for a top 20 player the ceiling is somewhat limited, but there is virtually no doubt he will be an excellent college player in Knoxville, and a multi-year starter.

quote:

Name: Jerrell Colbert

Rank: No. 24

College Commitment: LSU

When it comes to physical tools and upside, very few prospects in the class have more of it than Colbert. He is nearly 6-foot-10, he runs the court well, has skill on the offensive end, and then he can also be someone who blocks shots and protects the rim on defense.

Colbert has to continue to get more consistent with his effort on a possession by possession basis, but the tools are there for him to be a star if he is able to put it together. There is some risk, but the reward would be huge if Colbert reaches his ceiling and makes some adjustments to his motor.

quote:

Name: Manny Obaseki

Rank: No. 26

College Commitment: Texas A&M

The Aggies were able to make a huge snag on the recruiting trail by landing Obaseki. He is one of the top wings in the country and is someone who attacks the rim as well as any prospect in the nation. With his combination of size and athleticism, Obaseki is fantastic in transition and also can finish at the rim through contact.

Given his strength is as a driver, most college coaches will force Obaseki to beat them with the jumper. While that isn’t his biggest strength, he is definitely capable in that area. If Obaseki can continue to refine his ability to shoot, he is someone who could be a massive problem for opposing defenders and give A&M a go to scorer for multiple years.

quote:

Name: Daeshun Ruffin

Rank: No. 50

College Commitment: Ole Miss

When it comes to being a pure scorer from the point guard position, Ruffin is as good as it gets on the national stage. Ruffin is someone who can absolutely fill it up from deep, and then despite being small, he is capable of getting into the lane and hitting floaters over taller defenders.

Because he is only about 5-foot-9, Ruffin is going to struggle at times on defense, and there will be limitations when projecting to the pro level. Still, there is no substitute for being able to score, and Ruffin can do just that and do it in a hurry.

quote:

Name: Kowacie Reeves

Rank: No. 104

College Commitment: Florida

Reeves is a shot maker with impressive size and athleticism. When he has his shot working, he is as good as it gets in catch and shoot situations. To go along with that, he has the length to get his shot off even when defended well, and then also is someone who has the athleticism to keep from getting challenged.

Offensively he can really fill it up from the wing spot, but he has to be more consistent in the other areas of his game. Defensively he has to put in more effort, and then he absolutely has to do a better job of rebounding the basketball. If he can make strides in those areas, Reeves goes to another level as a prospect.

quote:

Name: Peyton Daniels

Rank: No. 118

College Commitment: Vanderbilt

A shifty floor general with good speed and an ability to run and a team as well as score, Daniels was a very good pick up for Jerry Stackhouse and his staff. Daniels can score in a variety of ways, but also has the solid IQ and feel for how to run a team.

Daniels isn’t the biggest player, so he will have to get tougher and more physical on the defensive end. Also, he can stand to be a little better with his decision making at his size, but he is a solid all-around player and someone who has the capability to come in right away and make an impact for Vanderbilt.

quote:

Name: Chance Moore

Rank: No. 139

College Commitment: Arkansas

The Razorbacks were able to dip into the state of Georgia and snag one of the most physically gifted players in the class. Moore has size, length and the ability to score when things are going well. All the physical tools are there for him to be a high-major, and when he is locked in, it is impressive to see what he is capable of.

Moore does have to continue to be locked in and improve his decision making and motor. At times he is just out there on the court and not making an impact due to lack of focus. Also, he at times can struggle with when to let the game come to him and when to try and take over the action.

quote:

Name: Devin Carter

Rank: No. 141

College Commitment: South Carolina

Carter is a kid who is simply wired to score the basketball. With NBA bloodlines and a good idea of how to play, Carter is dynamic getting into the mid-range and then also is a capable shooter from deep. While he is far from a knockdown guy, Carter is definitely a threat from three and is someone who defenses have to keep focus on.

For Carter, the next step is getting stronger and improving his athleticism. When given a runway he can explode athletically, but added strength is going to be key in that development. Also, he has to continue to work on his decision making when it comes to setting up

quote:

Name: Gabe Dorsey

Rank: No. 147

College Commitment: Vanderbilt

Dorsey is the quintessential “3 and D” guy at the college level. He has good size at 6-foot-6 and has a smooth release. Dorsey really shoots the ball well going beyond the three-point line, and beyond that he can really guard.

While Dorsey isn’t an explosive athlete, he is above average in that regard and gives a lot of effort on the defensive end. Beyond that, Dorsey has good size and strength which helps him defend as well. He really needs to improve his ability to create off the bounce, but that likely won’t be what he is asked to do much of in college.

I think he will play in college at VOLS or UK but overseas seems more likely than G League. Comes from a well off family so don’t think $700k or whatever the G League offers will get it done but he has his Italian citizenship and is going to play for their senior national team in the Olympics next summer so I could see a European team offering him a couple million dollar 1 year deal, especially because he won’t count against the American limit.

This is just the top247, not the composite ratings.

Springer part 2. Maze is 100% funded by Larry Pratt.

The Ole Miss crystal ball has me a little confused though.

A few more OM crystal balls. Kid lives in Knoxville with a former VOL in a home financed by Larry Pratt. That combined with the UK news leads me to believe there are some serious issues here beyond the questionable motor.

Or maybe, ole miss was the second team to offer him. They are the only place he has OVed to and he has said himself that he has done multiple zoom calls with the whole staff... called ole miss home and all of that

Tennessee’s biggest booster, Larry Pratt, who’s name is on Tennessee’s practice facility, literally bankrolls Bobby Maze’s AAU program, facilities, house, etc.

BHH has literally been living in Maze’s house in Knoxville, working out with Tennessee players, etc. all summer and has been to Tennessee’s campus hundreds of times.

Maze tried to get him in at Knox Catholic where 2 2022 kids Tennessee is prioritizing in a huge way (BJ Edwards and Handje Tamba) play but their coach turned him away because of chemistry concerns.

Tennessee beat out UNC for a 5* Charlotte kid who played for B Maze last summer and took a very shitty B Maze player 2 classes ago to continue the pipeline.

A top 5 kid who plays for an AAU program bankrolled by Tennessee’s biggest basketball booster and literally lives with Bobby Maze in Knoxville not being prioritized by UK (where his cousin played) or Tennessee (when he lives in Knoxville and has so many connections) leads to some questions that need to be answered at the very least.
