Hey tattoo. When you say 2 starters on Alabama defense were walk ons, who are you talking about? Did they even have any 3 star guys starting on D last year, much less walk-ons.

Jamie Mosley and Levi Wallace began their careers as walkons. Were on scholarship by year three. Both started in 2017. Wallace all year.

CapstoneGrad answered correctly.

Neither player was even ranked a 2 star - they were completely unranked. At least according to 247 Wallace was not even recruited. Mosley was only offered by Old Dominion, Tulane, UAB and Western Ky. Louisiana, La Tech, So Miss recruited but did not offer. They were both given scholarships after about 3 years in the program. But the point is that they had to walk on at Bama or any other P5 program. They obviously had more talent than most programs recognized, but the key was that Bama develops its players well and these kids had a bunch of "want to". Moseley, C.J.'s younger brother, is a model kid who loves practice and everything about football and Alabama. He will likely lose his job or injured players will regain their job, but it won't affect him. He will be ready and enthusiastic to provide any kind of support he can. He will play meaningful minutes even if he doesn't start this year.

I'm not trying to say Bama does not have a lot of talent, but it's not what many think. These are not massive, mindless, emotionless robots that Bama runs out there. They are highly motivated, highly developed, very disciplined, well trained in technique and tactics and run a very sophisticated defense (IMO, sometimes too much so) and pro offense with RPOs added. They are expertly evaluated and placed in roles in which they can excel, including those who rarely or never play in games.

His 89.58 ranking is right at the LSU ranking of their current AVG recruit (89.90) that is committed.
