I'm saying Frazier should only run when its absolutely necessary and he should be an advocate of sliding, he won't be able to stand up to several big hits a game

He better slide when its appropriate during a designed run...as no QB outside of Cam can stand up to several big hits during a game.

Admittedly I was in and out on that one, but can we agree that virginia and the SEC is a different animal?

yes but my point was his running style, not the defenses hitting capacity.

ideally you don't want your QB taking a lot of big hits anyway. Even Cam, as big as he was, avoided big hits. Sure he may have lowered his shoulder and ran someone over if he needed to, but he never really took any huge shots

Well I wouldn't say cam is the only QB in history that didn't need to slide. Tebow usually delivered the blow and young was big enough to take hits throughout the game.

You don't have to even be big though..guys like pat white, denard robinson, troy smith, dennis dixon were great runners that didn't hit the turf when they saw a tackler coming because they are shifty enough to avoid a big hit. From what I've seen of frazier he is potentially dangerous when he escapes the pocket but neither big enough or shifty enough to not have the slide in his repetoire

and with a year under his belt -- including season experience, offseason workouts/conditioning, spring practice, and summer drills -- he'll be a different animal as well.

people who have Frazier pegged after his true frosh season are selling the kid short... he won't be cam newtown, but he won't be Clint Mosely 2.0 either.

Well that was initially my point..a lot of times young QB's with confidence in their legs are quicker to tuck and run than read through progressions...it would better serve auburn if he stayed his butt in the pocket at all costs..assuming tray mason is right anyway and he has made huge strides..because clint mosley can't get it done week in and week out

I think KF is more Vinces size and bigger than those smaller shifty runnering QBs. I'm not sure he is as fast as VInce was though. Dont think we have seen enough to tell. He had a couple real strong runs against Arky and USCe for td's or close to them. Id have to see.

I saw where Dante Phillips was denied acceptance to UF. His top 4 were UF,UM, USF, and AU. Any chance at all he could end up at AU now?

Oh and LINK

How many passes has the kid attempted? I think that shapes the perception.

and like a QB, he's not built to take punishment in the open field...oh an 230 seems a bit embellished

Serious question.... how would you know how big he is?

You do realize players gain size once they start a college conditioning program? His dad has said he is 230. I'm going to go out on a limb and believe him over you.

12 i think

His first real action passing was at arkansas...not a good place for an 18 year old kid from...Arkansas.

that was a bad job by the coaches.

Fraziers first rushing TD
runs leaning forward, not up.

I was wondering who his top 3 was, and if we had room (which I'm sure we do)...

But I don't think we really need him. He wouldn't play this year, plus we have Carl Lawson, Dee Liner, and TaShawn Bower commited with a chance at landing Monty Adams down the road. Defensive line is, by far, our deepest group on the team.

I say we don't need him...

oh, i know what shapes the perception... remember all those (idiot) posters claiming McCarron would suck in 2011 because of how he played in the 2nd half of the Iron Bowl?... people use limited information and make huge assumptions... sometimes they turn out to be true... often times not.

In fairness neither was cam...or so the "a juco qb can never come into the sec adn have success, he'll take too many hits and break down by week 3" group think you guys had going.

But I agree with you, he can't take the hits like cam, but i don't think he should stay in the pocket all day either. He's elusive enough.

No I didn't realize that...Tim Tebow played at 235 when he was at florida and unless frazier packed on 20 pounds this offseason I think 230 is a stretch. 20 pounds in an offseason would require extreme lifting and syringes

Well, it's not like we didn't expect this. Oh well....who else is on our board?
