Cam Luper was just offered by TCU, and the #1 kicker is visiting Auburn soon.

If we can take the nations top kicker AND punter to go with one of the, potentially, best defensive hauls in the country, we will be in incredible shape adding to the great offensive recruiting classes we have had

Do you think Cam would come to Auburn without an offer over an offer from a mid-tier school?

We took the #1 kicker and #1 punter in 2010, IIRC. It's kind of foggy looking back, but I know they were both very highly rated. If we could land Lawson, Adams, Liner, and Bower, I would be stoked.

Our special teams will only get better if our recruiting continues to be at this level or higher.

I do not understand why his dad would let him take up a scholarship. He makes $330k a year and paying for his son to go to school should be a drop in the bucket to him. Especially if he could offer that scholarship to another player.

Well, via his Twitter, he sounded/looked pretty excited...
He said it was the offer he "had been waiting for".

Doesn't TCU have one of the best track and field programs in the country?

I think I remember hearing that Auburn's was better while we were recruiting that under-the-radar safety out of Georgia toward the end of last year, then he picked TCU over us...
I have no clue.

Hopefully his dad pushes him somewhere other than AU.
Kids need to get out on their own and figure out who they are. Hard to do that living at (or near) home and seeing mom and dad every day.

Why on Earth would you want this to happen?
Blaise and Cam have been recruiting him to Auburn since he moved to AHS. It would be pretty dumb for Curtis Luper to push his son somewhere else if Foster, Taylor, and Luper want to play together. Plus, Luper wouldn't cost a scholly.

Did you read the rest of my post?
Because that would've answered your question.
Some things in life are more important than football. I know that's blasphemous around here.

It sounds like Cam may very well end up at TCU to be his own man. I applaud that for his growth and experiences should he choose to do so.

Agree 100%.
You don't grow as a person otherwise.

If landing Cam Luper helped us land one of the best linebacker prospects of the last 10 years, you're fricking right.
Football is life.

I'd rather Cam make the best decision for himself, regardless of what that may be. From personal experience, that's leaving home and forging your own path in the world.
But, hey, what do I know? I'm just an old fricker who has made more than his fair share of stupid choices in life.

They can still "chill" together Thanksgiving, Christmas and the summer when Cam comes back to Auburn.

Damn right it is. I'm heating up the tar now, and TTs' plucking the chickens. As soon as we round up some pitchforks, we're getting a mob together and running you out of town.

Not trying to sidetrack this thread even more, but just because you stay near your hometown and your family doesn't mean you can't "forge your own path". Hell, we've seen it time and time again where players have to transfer to a school closer to their home because they have made stupid decisions or because they missed their family and friends.
Cam may or may not be one of those really family oriented people (judging by his dad I would assume he is). He could thrive in Auburn....or his family could drive him batshit crazy, and I guess this is what I was initially asking.
So, for people more knowledgeable on this situation than me, "Is Cam seriously considering Auburn even if he doesn't get an offer?"

Agree to disagree.
