Jackson just texted that he has committed to Auburn. We'll have more later this afternoon after he leaves Big Cat Weekend. "Just committed to Auburn," he texted.

WTF?

You sure this Rivals guy didn't mix up his Tigers since Mizzou has been heavy after this kid?

Edit: I guess not. That one came out of nowhere.

Love Jackson's athleticism, has a good frame to add more weight too. The coaches evaluated him in person this spring and loved him, which is why we'll still take him even though we're still after OJ. According to Bryan Matthews, he's a guy the coaches didn't want to risk not taking to wait on OJ. And this doesn't stop OJ's recruitment, because both AU and Bama will take another TE other than him

Not really. The coaches offered a little while back and really liked him. He was one of the guys that was on the list of possible commits this weekend

Scout lists him as a TE/DE.

Do the coaches think he might be more of a DE prospect?

No he'll be a TE. They were really impressed with him at TE this spring.

Mario Fannin and Byron Isom were from Lovejoy High School, IIRC.

247's analysis of him at the MVP Atlanta Camp a few months ago:
quote:

Jackson may have had the best ball skills and body control of any skill position prospect on hand. The 6-foot-6, 232-pounder isn’t necessarily as quick off the line as others, but he has an innate understanding of how to get where he wants on the field, and present an easy target. He made a number of tough catches in traffic in one-on-ones
