Not so much this when it comes to Rettig. Olsen has been coached up better and, like you said, has better mechanics. But Rettig has the better arm. His release is quicker and he throws it with more velocity IMO. I believe he's more talented and has a higher ceiling than Olsen

Rettig is hard to gauge though due to his injury. He practically missed all of his junior year so the footage available is old. He could be better than Olsen in the long run, but as of right now I think Olsen is better.

Your ceiling comment is very true however. In 3 years Retting could be the best QB out of the 2013 class. The only question is how does he respond coming off the injury?

What's up 13? You haven't been posting much lately, been busy?

Been slammed dude. Took the family on a cruise a cpl weeks ago, been crazy at work, and we're moving to a new house (only like two miles away, but had to do it. Needed more space). With all that I haven't been able to post much. I've been reading from time to time though.

Not even remotely true; but OK. I'd take both over Olsen and apparently so would Loeffler.

That's all well and good, but it is still your opinion. Olsen is ranked as high as he is for a reason. As I told AMM, I'll concede that Rettig may be better long term, but as of now Olsen is better.

Don't confuse the script A next to my name with ignorance. I know what I'm talking about when it comes to QBs.

You really should trust him. Even though he works in the healthcare field for the military, he is an idiot savant when it comes to football scouting and talent evaluation.

How they haven't moved him over to West Point to work under Rich Ellerson is beyond me.

ETA: Where did you get that "Trust Me" quote? I don't remember ever typing that in this thread.

And in regards to your "partner" that fateful night of arguing, TTsTowel, he and I have since made up. It's nice to see you are still butthurt though.

Like I said; there is a reason why Loeffler (a real QB coach; not some idiot at Rivals.com) has Olsen considerably lower on his own board. His evaluation matches my own. Olsen is good; but he cant come close to matching the physical ability of the others. Being "better" right now is nice, but none of these guys are going to be asked to play from day one therefore you should be targeting the guy with the best projected outlook. Rettig is only matched by Shane Morris (Michigan commit) with regards to pure arm among the top players in this class; and Thomas is the complete package: terrific size, good arm, best pure athlete of the bunch.

Olsen isn't even that much more advanced than any of them, especially Bateman and Thomas. He's more advanced than Rettig but only because he didn't miss nearly an entire season.

That was complete sincerity.

You should list all of your credentials and accolades just to make sure these guys know whose opinion is more valuable.

Well there is this:

quote:

TideSaint and I did not get off to a very smooth start but I think calling him crazy leaves you hanging out there on the edge. I can evaluate most positions pretty well but I also know my limitations. QB evaluation is one of my biggest weaknesses but looks to be one of TideSaint's strengths.

While you may not agree with his take, until you can offer substantive breakdown reasons for why one is better than the other I will stick with his views. I do not say that because I know him, since I do not, but I have read every review he has done here on QB's and he breaks them down far better than I do and better than what I have read from anyone else posting here to this point.

Congrats on the success 13. Sounds like youre kicking arse.

Bone said a Liner flip was very unlikely tonight. He's a thug pos anyways and didnt have a commitable offer anyways.

Hey, I bought a new house recently too and you didn't congratulate me.

Maybe it was because I didn't tell anyone here.

Appreciate it. Not sure if I'm kicking arse or getting mine kicked. Depends on the day of the week.

I think if signing day were today Liner wld clearly sign with AU. I think that's where he ultimately does sign. That said, he has given the staff enough reason to continue recruiting him am not replacing him on their board.

It's laughable when people compare Liner and Yeldon. I was always pretty confident Yeldon wld switch. The things you would hear about him and how the staff felt made it seem inevitable. Liner is different. His talent requires continued pursuit. Couple that with his communication with staff and it's a no brainer to stay after it. However, there's only about a 25% chance at best that he flips.

We have got to start getting more pictures of our commits in Bama hats. That seems to do the trick

Not to mention the fact that Alabama didn't have any true RBs on their board at the time of Yeldon's switch.

Bama is heavily in the running for Nkemdiche and DeMarcus Walker, who both play Liners projected position, so why would Dee switch?
