It seems like 95% of D1 snappers have good accuracy, so maybe the difference comes in velocity. I'm guessing the more velocity your snapper has the less likely you are to have punts and kicks blocked.

There has to be more to this T. Maybe Saban is just making it more public that we need a LS and this was how to do it. Trying to find Tin Foil hat now.

I can deal with taking a second QB in this class...but a long snapper taking up a scholarship??? What the frick. Bama has got way too many elite prospects on the board for this IMO. But, with that being said, Saban knows what he's doing a helluva lot better than me, so I'll trust in the process.

This one just leaves me scratching my head a bit.

As good as our long snappers have been the last 7 years you tend to forget how important they are.

Long Snappers are important... if the staff thinks we need one enough to offer, we probably need one.

Plus we have been recruiting at such a high level for 4-5 years now. We have better depth than almost everyone. We can probably afford luxuries like going after a good kicker and a long snapper.

If Saban is using this snapper offer to send out a message I would bet the message is much broader in scope. something like, get on the train or get left at the station cause this train is moving on.

One of my older buddies always said if he was going to pay anyone to throw a game it would be the long snapper. Cause they don't make that much money but can really affect a game big time. I'd have to agree with him.

So we should make sure we pay our LS as much as our other players?

Well he was speaking about pros. But the point is they are very important and can easily have a big impact on a game if they aren't very good.

If you recruit a guy it counts to the 85 right? So he just sent out a message to any longsnappers that can walk on, to come on to T-town.

Vick maybe not, but if Colt McCoy was our QB, we would have won.

Only a 2 star on 247, not sure what recruiting service they are talking about. But he is the only LS even ranked at all on 247, so that's something I guess.

Long Snapping Coach Chris Rubio's Comments
One would think Cole would come into this camp being nervous being he is the first five star soph. He wasnt and ended up dominating the final day. Shows great poise and ball is on a rope. Could snap at the next level right now. The best part is that he is a hard worker that won't rest on his laurels.
For the first time in the history of Rubio Long Snapping, a sophomore has earned a FIVE STAR ranking. This is unprecedented and very well deserved. Cole is ready RIGHT NOW for the next level. Put it this way, if he was in the class of 2012 I would put him #3 right behind Daly and Ferguson (and both those guys have full offers). Form is exceptional, he is strong, his work ethic is unparralled and, what one of the best things about him....he snaps the ball angry and very, very hard. He is one of the rare Long Snappers I have had in the past ten years that looks like he is out for blood when he snaps. I absolutely love it. Cole could set records if he continues to work hard and let nothing get in his way.

Did you see that snap at the 2:00 mark?!? It was...pretty much like every other snap in the highlight.

And I think he was a 5* at the Chris Rubio long snapping camp or whatever.

Well to be honest, if it was a good snap... that's exactly what you want... right?
