Until Greene, Hill, and Gulledge get there. He could stay there for this year, but once Williams leaves I expect him to get another look as a redshirt freshman. Also Darren Lake is 6'4" 330-350 depending on if he is over weight right now.

Yeah, but now he's going to play OG, right?

No. They moved him there for the spring because we didn't have a lot of depth on the OL. He will move back to NG when the rest of the freshmen get on campus.

Taylor is there for depth reasons right now. He was recruited as a NT

So, will he be redshirted this year? If not, do you guys think he'll get PT as the back up NT, or would someone who has been there longer handle thaT? (Ivory, LaMichael Fanning)

Only way Taylor redshirts is if Lake and Ivory beat him out at NT. More than likely he will be the #2 at NT.

Lake or Taylor, one should get a red shirt and the other get reps in back-up.

Taylor needs time to get his pad level down and learn to use his hands better. Lake is coming in with better pad level and hands but needs growth in the upper body strength.

I do think he will get redshirted. It would be dumb to play him in mop up duty when Ivory is there for that. Fanning could play NT if we needed him to as well as Dial. The DT/DE combo position Dareus and Williams played can easily play NT. See Williams this year, Dareus some at Alabama and now he is the NT for Buaffalo instead of DE.

Lake is a different story. I would not say redshirt for Lake yet because he looks SEC ready. I think he will be a bigger Chapman with Dareus quickness.

He's just a DT, they run a 4-3.

They run a 3-4 now. Mark Anderson and Mario Williams play DE, Dareus plays NT.

Im sure they play him at DT when they go to a 4-3, 4-2-5 or 2-4-5. All NFL teams run multiple defenses more than their base. But their base is 3-4 according to NFL.com

The shift to a base 3-4 was why they got Anderson. They learned how good MD was inside last year so they knew the people were in place to make the move.

Charlotte (N.C.) Vance outside linebacker Larenz Bryant has seen his stock rise steadily throughout the spring, first running a 4.43 40-yard dash at a Shrine Bowl combine, then being named 247Sports’ top performer at the Charlotte NFTC, and being invited to the Opening as a result of his performance.

Bryant was named 247Sports' top performer at the Charlotte NFTC.

That rise continued to manifest itself earlier this week, when the 6-foot-1, 210-pounder received an offer from the defending national champions.

“It was exciting to call Coach Saban and get the offer,” said Bryant. “He said I’m a good athlete and talked about how they might convert me to a safety. He was just telling me to stay focused and finish the school year strong. Coach (Chris) Rumph is a real good guy, too- he’s real cool.

“As a program, they’re the best in the nation. That’s where everyone wants to go. I don’t really know much about them school-wise.”

A number of schools have been in to see Bryant, who says he’s heard most from Virginia and Alabama as of late.

“Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, LSU, North Carolina, Clemson and schools like that have came to watch the team. My top group changes about every week.

“Alabama sends me something in the mail every day. Probably Virginia is (recruiting the hardest). They’ve been by a few times. That’s a good school to go to. They have a good communications program and that’s my major.”

South Carolina is another program that figures to be a factor with Bryant moving forward, as he was born near Charleston and grew up a Gamecock fan.

“With South Carolina, I’m from there. I went to a lot of games when I was young.”

The four-star linebacker is unsure of his summer visit schedule and maintains his recruitment will stretch into the season as he plans to take official visits during the fall.

"I’ll probably go to a couple one day camps and some seven-on-seven tournaments with my team, but I’m not sure yet. I’m planning on taking my official visits during the football season. I’m not sure which schools I’m going to take them to yet. I’m looking for good people around me and a good defensive program.”

Bryant has a grade of 94 from 247Sports and is ranked as the no. 102 prospect in the nation. He starred on both sides of the ball for Vance as a junior totaling 154 tackles, 23 TFL, 7 sacks, and 4 interceptions (3 for touchdowns) on defense, while also rushing for 1,423 yards and 22 touchdowns

Have any of you heard about us making a push for A'Shawn Robinson from Fort Worth? Just talking to a coach and he says Bama is starting to make some contact. He has been commited to UT but would listen to Bama from what I was just told. Just wanted to know if you have any new info. Thanks

No reply yet from Charles and company , but this kid would be a major pull from Texas.

I watched Poggi's film again and I too am impressed with his athleticism. I would definitely love to have him in this class. I hope our coaches feel the same.
