Dodson! We got Dodson here!

Bo seems to be a Greg Little clone. Hopefully he can catch.

He can definitely catch the football. I believe his 2011 highlight reel contains many examples of it.

However, I think he would be a much better defensive player for Alabama. As of right now the 2014 class seems to be a bit light on elite LBers and I think Bo could go the way of Donta Hightower, who was listed as a jumbo athlete coming out of high school, and be a really good defensive player.

I think putting that much weight on him would be a disservice to his athleticism. Not that Hightower wasn't athletic. If he plays D, I think think they turn him into Mark Barron. I want him on O, though.

I want Bo, Fournette, and Thomas (but I'm a greedy prick).

The only way we get all three of them is if someone moves to the defensive side of the ball. Scarborough projects to defense better than the other two.

Now, if we miss on Fournette, I would be perfectly fine with Bo staying on offense.

Raekwon McMillan and Tre Williams are both two elite LBs that Bama has a good shot with

What about Bo at WR and Thomas and Fournette at RB? I agree that of the 3 Bo projects the best on the defensive side, however I also think he is too dangerous with the ball in his hands to move him to defense.

I don't think McMillan has the versatility to be more than a 2 down Lber a la Jeff Luc. He will be one hell of a run stopper, but on passing downs he will be on the bench. He's too stiff.

Tre Williams certainly has the athleticism to be an elite Lber. Having said that, Alabama needs more than two Lbers in the 2014 class. We loaded up on the 2012 class, but this years class is going to be Ruben Foster and maybe one other guy.

2014 should be a depth building year at Lber for us. Scarborough would go a long way in fulfilling that need, especially if we can grab Fournette.

I've thought about Bo playing WR, but I don't think he maximizes his talent there. To me it's either Lber or RB for him.

One of the JUCO prospects Bone spoke about in his chat earlier tonight:

quote:

East Mississippi Community College (Scooba, MS) sophomore wide receiver Corey Smith may be one of the top receivers in the nation, high school or junior college. And he has the offers to prove it.

Name: Corey Smith
Classification: Sophomore
Junior College: East Mississippi Community College (Scooba, MS)
Position: Wide Receiver
HT, WT: 6-0, 190
Scout.com Ranking: NR
Schools Of Interest: Alabama, Cincinnati, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Syracuse, Tennessee, Washington, West Virginia

Smith has so many offers that he has trouble remembering all of them.

"I have offers from Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Ohio State and West Virginia and a lot of others," said the youngster.

He also has offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Michigan State, Nebraska, Syracuse and Washington.

One thing he is sure of is he won't be committing anytime soon.

"I am open right now," said the 6-0, 190-pounder. "I'm going to take my officials in the fall. But right now I'm open"

He explained why he's received so many offers so early in the recruiting process.

"I feel like I'm a complete receiver," said Smith. "I can run, catch, run good routes, coachable, have leadership. I try to do everything the right way, really."

He proved his talent at Grand Rapids (MI) Community College in last season, catching 28 passes for 438 yards and 2 touchdowns in 9 games. His plan was to continue playing at Grand Rapids this coming season but their football program was closed down. Due to that, he started looking around and ended up choosing East Mississippi Community College.

"I was committed to Tennessee out of high school but I wound up going to Grand Rapids (Community College) because I wanted to stay closer to home," said Smith, who is originally from Akron, Ohio. "Their football program was dropped (after the 2011 season). I decided to come down here after it was closed down."

Smith's plans are to graduate in December, 2012, and sign during the early signing period.

I think you guys are correct about Scarborough and Fournette. Bama gets Bo and LSU gets Fournette. Neither is afraid of the other but both want to get the ball. Why share with one another plus the depth already on campus when they can go to separate schools and have it all to themselves at some point. I think Yeldon hurts the most with Fournette not Scarborough. Add in Tyren Jones, Tenpenny and whoever the 3rd back in this class is and it's pretty easy to figure out logically that is a lot of depth with only one ball to go around.(my bad on Yeldon since he'll be gone in 3 years) LSU is taking 1 back at most this year to go with 1 last year with the depth chart shrinking considerably by the time Fournette touches campus. It's just pure logic. People will use the scared of competition bullshite they always use when they miss on a kid but it's just common sense.

Love the Thomas kid. He figures prominently in that rb discussion as well. It's no lock that he isn't the better back of the 3 at the end of the day.

Have no clue where Bone gets that Tim Williams stuff from. He's got to be going on old info from Steve Robertson unless there is something amiss going on. Everyone thinks if Williams isn't at LSU it would be a major suprise aside from Bone. I've seen some Bama people saying the coaching staff doesn't even have high hopes of landing him. Strange. Maybe I'm missing something.

Back to tonight's chat since we have obviously gotten off track:

Bone expects Bateman to commit during his visit next month.

He feels that we land Nkemdiche, Walker, Poggi, and McNeil.

He also feels that we lead for Moss, Humphreys, Williams, Thomas, and Scarborough for the instate 2014 class.

Thinks we get Maurice Smith. :nana:

Says we lead for Tim Williams. :nana:

Believes that if Matthew Thomas leaves South Beach that he is headed for Tuscaloosa. :nana:

Thinks Dee Liner sticks with Auburn.

Next year's in-state class should be fricking epic. It might be on par with the 2008 class, but I don't see any 3 star coming close to Marcel Dareus and being the #3 pick in the NFL Draft.

The thing that sucks about this is all of these guys grew up pretty big Bama fans. So Auburn is already at a huge disadvantage. It's just the nature of in-state recruiting...
