Agree with this. State fans seem to think he was the 2nd coming but he was barely above .500 in the time he was there. It’s such a limited snapshot that it’s impossible to say either way.

In his defense he inherited a team that won the sec in 2016 and had like 11 players drafted then on top of that he had 7 pitchers have to have TJ surgery.

He had to use Jake Mangum as a weekend starter and had 3 position players pitch and win SEC games. Then went to USM and won their regional before losing to a very good LSU team.

He had everything set up for success with great recruits (many made up the 2019 and this years CWS teams) then he started thinking with his little head. Him and Jake Gautreau were killing it recruiting

As of when he was hired, State was absolutely the Lamborghini of coaching jobs. Best fan support, Your AD is ALL Baseball, building the best stadium in nation. frick yeah he was handed a Lamborghini as you can see by us going to 3 straight CWS. Foh with that

His replacement said that the team he inherited was the worst he'd ever seen when it came to fundamentals & discipline. He said he had to start completely over 2 weeks into the season. From one coach's perspective, AC was far from being a "good coach". And the way he walked out on CPM, he will never get another job at LSU. He didn't merely burn any bridges, he blew them up.

I’m a believer that Mangum was the player/coach/reason for success that year and not Cannizzaro. Dude was a douchebag
