Albert Means never got a dime to play at Alabama.

His "advisor" sold him at auction like it was 1859 and pocketed it all.

From Albert himself

It was illegal when Lynn Lange did it.

Now it's legal so there will be a WHOLE lot more "sales" while everyone pats themselves on the back for ending such an unfair system.

I haven't thought about him in years. He has outlived any usefulness he may have had.

Logan Young is the one who really took it on the chin.

Poor bastard fell up the stairs carrying a salad and then bled all over the rest of the house.

He was murdered. The rumor is it was the mob that killed him because he was tangentially involved with them and they didn’t want a NCAA case to involve them: And rumor is the Memphis police is who killed him and that is why it was such an open and shut case of an accidental death.

But you know how rumors are.

Probably the same thing that all the other cheaters in history think, those that cheated, got caught, only to see the rules change 50 years later.

Bama also had a lot more elbow room to take risks with.

Exactly. They had a lot more cover to do so and dint have to worry about the ncaa hammering them.

Alabama received the worst sanctions of any team since SMU.

1. They deserved it.
2. Not even close to what USC got.

Albert Means and about 500 other dudes that got paid to play at bammer

Per ESPN:
"Auburn came under NCAA scrutiny when Pat Dye was head coach.
Tapes secretly recorded by football player Eric Ramsey disclosed
financial and other help being given to Ramsey in violation of NCAA
rules.

Dye stepped down after the 1992 season and the NCAA hit Auburn
with penalties that included scholarship reductions, two years of
probation and a one-year ban on television appearances.

Dye, currently a fund-raiser for Auburn, did not immediately return a
telephone message left at his office Tuesday.
