Look. No need to replay last years NCG over and over. We won. You lost. Move on. There is one more game that counts left in this season. Enjoy it.

Georgia didn’t play Bama I would say Bama talent wise is right there as well.

90% of us have been acknowledging that for months: there were 2 teams in the country that match up with us talent wise: Bama & tOSU.

OSU surprised me they actually showed up and I can see why their qb is so highly rated.

Kentucky had a shot at 10 wins in the SEC but got ground up playing the season. Just would like to see Michigan and Ohio State play a tougher regular season schedule before getting the benefit of the doubt just because they have the most eyeballs.

Same Kentucky that just got buttfricked by Iowa 21-0?

Same Iowa team that Michigan beat 27-14 and Ohio State beat 54-10?

I’ve been saying this but the problem is that everyone pumps up the mid tier SEC teams and shits on the mid tier Big Ten teams, this makes it look like the SEC is way tougher but I don’t think it’s that much tougher.

I do find it funny to read you boys talking about “biased yankee media” because up here everyone talks about “biased SEC media” because ESPN owns the SEC network (and as of next year has 0% access to any Big Ten games). And ESPN has an outsized input on rankings, etc.

All I’m saying is you boys should put more respect on teams like Iowa and Indiana or Illinois etc. — they aren’t much different from your Kentucky’s or Miss States etc. I watch a lot of Big Ten and SEC football every year and it seems like people who get surprised about how their conference does in bowls etc just never watch games outside their conference.

How so? because they report them on their site?

The rankings are put out by rivals of ESPN...you realize that, right? So, I am curious how ESPN has "..an outsized input on rankings, etc..."
I mean you want to claim this while ignoring the fact that two B1G teams amde the playoffs and both got bounced in the first round. Also, both times the SEC got two teams in they won their semi-final games and played for the title.
So, please explain how ESPN had a hand in that.

But honestly and to be fair the bowl records on some of the more meaningless bowl games can’t be given too much credence especially with those better players who now choose to opt out and such. It’s akin to putting too much stock in the week 18 NFL games that carry no meaningful result.

Let's not spoil UGA's wet dream of an emerging dynasty. UGAG trailed MOST of the game last night. If a wobbly kicker hit that final field goal, Dawgs would be spinning excuses out the arse.

Now UGA fans, get high on that dopamine rush. I'll be happy to see all the window flags come off the pick-up trucks when TCU shocks the F out you.

No they aren’t? ESPN has an outsized amount of affiliated reporters who vote in the AP poll. Do you know how polls work?

They also have exclusive rights (at least until playoff gets expanded maybe) to the CFP and thus the CFP poll

They also dominate sports talk “journalism” so their takes get repeated ad naseum

Regardless you’re ignoring my point. I’m not talking about the top teams like Bama or UGA — this year I thought UGA was definitely the #1 team and would win the championship again and Bama was clearly in that position a lot recently too

I’m talking about mid tier teams and rankings like from 10-25

Sure that’s fair, but then it goes both ways… if the SEC wins doesn’t make them better too then. Iowa also had players sitting out and injured

My only point is people from other conferences dump on teams like Iowa or Illinois all the time and then say the Big Ten is easy, Michigan doesn’t play anyone etc.

Iowa has a top 5 defense, sure their offense has been bad, but overall they are a tough team to beat. It’s still very difficult to get through the Big Ten, maybe slightly less than SEC overall but still close.

That’s my only point here — I like watching both Big Ten and SEC games (that’s why I look on this forum) and think they’re overall close to equal (expect the SEC has had the better overall Best team most years, but not top to bottom)

Based on what? That they hung with UGA? Mizzou hung with UGA too. Realistically the Big10 lost a good bit of luster yesterday when Michigan lost but so did a lot of the “Elite” teams. The Big10 was just not THAT good. Lots of true mediocrity in CFB this year if we are being honest.

You’re barking up the wrong tree here. SEC is the best conference in the country and you’re not gonna change anyone’s minds here with all your little words.

Look I know where I am and don’t expect most people here to agree, and again, I still think the SEC is probably the best — I just think you guys underestimate teams like Iowa, Illinois, Maryland, etc.

When a good SEC team dickslaps Miss State or someone, ESPN and the narrative says “Wow what a good team, that’s impressive.”

When Michigan or OSU dickslaps Iowa or Maryland the narrative is “Wow Iowa is so bad” etc

All of you dipshits said this exact same thing last year after we won it all, and look where we are.

Why have you been melting about UGA for several days now? You are embarrassing.

Yes, I knw how theyw ork. Do you? Yes, ESPN has a writer (maybe more than one?) that votes....but certainly not an outsized amount.

No they don't! There is a committee that chooses the playoff participants...not the sportswriters. And carrying the games on their network does not give them more say as to who is in the playoffs.

quote:

I’m talking about mid tier teams and rankings like from 10-25
Those teams don't have to worry about going to the playoffs anyway. Maybe I am missing your point.
