I think Ohio State and Oklahoma are different this year... i dont know if either will lose... the rest of their conferences are pretty weak... Ohio state basically has two games.. Wisky and Penn State.. Idk if they lose either... Oklahoma literally has nobody... this year could be one of the first where Im not sure two SEC teams deserve to be in it... Bama is young and Clemson is not as good as they have been the past 3 years... hell i could see a dark horse getting in...
Bama could lose two games (LSU/Auburn)
Georgia could lose two (Florida coming
It could open the door for someone else to get in if Clemson slips up... (Which I think they will)
Who could that Dark horse be?

My only three take always from this thread are:
1. Pitt was a giant killer in 2016
2. You SEC crowd sure spend a lot of time convincing yourselves that a one Loss Clemson should be out of the CFP no matter what - makes you look scared.
ETA: 3. We’re still the reigning national champions.

Just a reminder to all the LSU and Alabama teams that think they can lose this upcoming game and still get in

Felt this deserved a bump after the weekend.
If history is to be believed, alabama and penn state both blew their shot at the playoffs unless they get some major help from other teams (which has happened before). If all holds serve however, both teams are done.
Right now Clemson, Ohio State, Minnesota, Oregon, UGA, LSU, and Oklahoma are in the drivers seat for the playoffs regardless of what the rankings may say at this point. Granted this will obviously shake out more as the weeks go on but that's where we stand as of now.

bump for 2019.
Once again, as usual, the committee has gotten it right. The 4th spot of the first year in 2014 is the only year you can make a legit gripe for their decision. Aside form that they've continued to be on point every season.

quote:LSU and Ohio State would have both made it over Oklahoma this year even without the conf title
- Better go 11-1 or 12-0 and win your conference
- If you don't win your conference, you better hope your opposition for the #3/4 spot is a team with 2 losses
It's pretty simple

I see a lot of "loss to Auburn" in all that. fricking inconsistent program. Breaks my heart all the time.

That's not a given at all. Granted, everythign I've ever posted on the topic has been based on the data we know (in the OP), and if LSU had lost it would be unique in that we wouldn't have an apples to apples comparison for it. So yeah I could absolutely see them making it in, but with UGA also being in I'm not certian.
OSU would still be in with a loss without any trouble IMO, partly because of them starting at #1 (which is meaningless IMO, but it's still something to put out there I guess) and the fact that they would still be the only big 10 team.
