Businesses will be protected from rioters. Way too much money involved.

Athletes won't piss off fans by forcing a political agenda. Way too much money involved.

Yeah. This doesn't seem to matter right now.

The riots are happening in lib towns. The south isn’t about to cancel football.

I don't really disagree that there is a lot of money at stake, but when a team gets multiple cases it will be a different story. I think this is a perfect opportunity to pop the money bubble and really decide what power 5 sports are doing.

That's just it. Teams are going to get MULTIPLE positive test results. There is no way to avoid it. That should, in no way, be a barometer as to whether or not to continue the season. Again, hundreds, if not thousands, of players will contract it at some time. That is inevitable.

The focus should be on hospitalizations and deaths. If those increase (which I highly doubt will), then the season could be in jeopardy.

But just positive tests should not be alarming as too many people are making it.

Football may start but as soon as a major program has an “outbreak” it’s over.

Media will go bananas to get it shut down.

Yeah we are over testing and it shows its not as deadly as presumed, but society is full of people who act off of fear instead of critical thinking. Society is more of a problem than covid.

This is pretty much my thought as well. I fully expect it to start, but I'll be shocked if it finishes as scheduled.

Show me any business affected by rioters or team that pissed of fans where billions were lost.

That's how much money is at stake with college football.

Nope

Not true

I'm convinced by all my detractors, that the Money is scant and that P5 Athl Depts barely break even, well I'm a believer now and since the money is so small, losing the 2020 season will be no big deal in SEC Country

I've changed, the masses have gotten through to me

No you haven't. You are still the same clueless, moronic, head in the sand embecil as before.

Your attempt at sarcasm failed just as bad as your attempt at logic.

Go away clown......

Article from a month ago.

quote:

That five-day event caused about $1.4 billion in 2020 dollars, according to PCS. Two days of riots following the funeral of Freddie Gray caused $26 million in losses in Baltimore alone.

quote:

But losses stemming from the Floyd protests are likely to far exceed that. In Minneapolis, where some 400 businesses were damaged, owners and insurance experts estimate costs of the damage to exceed $500 million, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

quote:

Nationwide, Floyd related protests and riots lasted 3 weeks in 140 U.S. cities, including Washington, D.C., New York; Chicago, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. By June 4 at least 40 cities in 23 states had imposed curfews. High-end boutiques in Beverly Hills and New York like Gucci and Chanel were looted, luxury stores in Santa Monica and big box retailers like Target and Macy’s across the US have suffered tens of millions in losses.

quote:

In California, the state general services department says it spent $2 million repairing state buildings, from boarding up windows to repairing granite and removing graffiti. The state also spent over $38.2 million in California Highway Patrol overtime costs and $25 million deploying the National Guard

quote:

In Seattle, taxpayers spent $6.3 million in overtime, $67,478 on riot gear and $31,172 on pepper spray, flash bangs and other less than lethal weapons, according to SPD. Police overtime in Portland, Oregon totaled $6.2 million.

quote:

LAPD patrol cars cost $80,000 each. Eight, according to the department, were totaled and 148 others were damaged, with broken windows, slashed tires and graffitti scrawled across the cars saying “murderers,” "kill all cops” and “say his name.” LAPD racked up $40 million in overtime -- but because the city is out of cash, a memo from Chief Michael Moore says officers must take comp time, leaving fewer officers on the street.

quote:

In Tucson, police overtime for one night May 30 cost taxpayers more than $100,000 for 239 employees, about the annual salaries of two rookie officers. On that same Saturday night, Cleveland police racked up $3 million in overtime. Even small towns incurred costs: Fargo, N.D., spent $840,000 and Harrisburg, Pa., $50,000 in overtime.

quote:

"When you look at the U.S., riot and civil disorder may generally appear as a sub-$100 million risk, with the potential for much greater losses. But, when you add a handful of large national or international companies with losses of more than $100 million each, you could see a much larger industry loss begin to materialize. The large losses within the catastrophe could change the character of the overall event,” said Johansmeyer of Property Claim Services.

It took LA alone 10 years to recover from the Rodney King riots. It will pale in comparison to what is happening in large cities accross the country.
