If the hope for and possibility of the ultimate goal of every college football fan and player (winning a NC) was gone for any reason at all, I would lose a lot of interest in football. If I lose interest, my kids wouldnt give a damn about OM football, their kids would become Bama or LSU fans because thats what all the other unoriginal, unaffiliated, fair-weather, wannabe football fans do. And so on for generations.

If my logic is correct under the said circumstances, it would mean that my descendants would have betrayed me, tarnished the family name, and more importantly betrayed Ole Miss.

The only fitting punishment that should be administered to my descendants other than death would turn out to be the very reason I made my decision to give up the possibility of a Rebel championship in the first place, so they could experience many themselves.....

As LSU/Bama fans, my descendants would be forced to suffer through years of embarrassing losses to the dynasty that Ole Miss will inevitably become.

It's clear now that in order to spare the fruits of my loin from suffering, I must selfishly choose to experience Ole Miss' rise to greatness myself.

Stupid question OP

I'm selfish. What the frick does it matter to me what happens after I die?

Note, this attitude only applies to football. I absolutely care how I leave things that MATTER in life after I die. Football, however, really affects my university none-at-all.

Now, if you were to ask if I'd rather my university have, I dunno, a span of amazing academic excellence while I attended or be established as an academic power forever and ever after I died, I'd choose the latter. That would benefit my future family and more people.

This is an amazingly well-thought out response.

Can I pose the same question to you about winning a conference title?

No offense, but when Arkansas entered the SEC, I considered LSU a basketball school and had for at least 10 years prior. I honestly had no idea, but I was excited to play LSU in basketball. You guys had some good teams in the early eighties and then Chris Jackson and Shaquille in the early nineties.

Certainly no offense taken, but with me, it's football, baseball and I admit I have only been a bandwagon basketball fan since Pete left. There were some highlight years of kids I liked to watch, but I admit, I'm bandwagon basketball and my championship statement was meant entirely about football.

I don't know. Would you rather be young, rich, and attractive or raped by a very close friend?

OF COURSE I'd take seeing the national championship in my lifetime! What the hell does it matter if they win multiple titles after I'm dead and gone?!

Stupid question is stupid!

Lifetime. Nobody will be celebrating football after they're dead, afterlife or not.

Dumb question is dumb.

If I see LSU win March Madness I'll be ready for the afterlife. I've seen them do just about everything else.
