Better than below freezing playoff games.

Right because football has never been associated with cold weather.

It SHOULD be an advantage. At every level of football, FCS, DII, DIII, NAIA, playoff games are played at the home stadium of the higher seeded team, as it should be.

The other aspect is the fans. Many might could afford to come to an on campus game, but can’t afford to fly all over the country to “neutral sites” to support their team.
Men's basketball is played at Regional sites. Women's basketball is played at the higher seeds home site. Men's is to make it more even. Women's is to sell tickets.

Not sure if you know this but that's a different sport.

The problem is that the advantage is given arbitrarily by a committee. Every other format you mentioned has clear rules of who hosts who. OSU and UT had the same record and equally bad losses. I'd say UT had better wins. Why weren't they hosting?

It’s the same in the NFL, it’s a prize for being a top 8 team, you get to host in your environment.

Again, in the NFL it goes by record with a series of tiebreaker. Not a committee saying Texas with no good wins and 2 losses gets to host while other 2 loss teams get to travel
