give an O Fer SEC coach a free leash and 3-4 years of repeated 1 or 2 or maybe even ZERO SEC wins in a span of 3 years. With a 12.6 million dollar buy out and no reduction till year 4 then that is what your AD would have done had they been Jeff Long.
The embarrassment should not be for passing on Gus nor for trying to make Bielema into something he is not. It should be for making ridiculous comments, not living up to expectations and taking, what was once a program on the rise to lower expectations. Dead last in the SEC for years to come.......

I think Bielema can be a good coach at Arkansas. They may have given him too much too soon, but I would give him a few years. He walked into a dumpster fire. It will take some time. Gus walked into a much better situation at Auburn than what Bielema is working with at Arkansas.

I know this is hawgalude an all of that but...

Don't be alarmed if he falls, head over feet.

I hate Bert, but having said that I think he can be decent, but not great. I see Arky consistently in the 7-5, 8-4 range with him, with probably 1 SEC CG appearance during his tenure. Unfortunately, Arky overpaid the guy and, for better or worse, is stuck with him for a while.

Malzahn walked into a program that went 3-9.
Bielema walked into a program that went 4-8.

But Gus had his recruits, he's a one and done flash in the pan once defenses figure out his offense, while Chizik blew as a coach, he left the talent stocked, give Bert time, he's a better coach in the long run

Yes, but Gus walked into a team that had been recruiting well, actually had some good talent, and had the players to run his system. Arkansas on the other hand had very little talent and didn't have the personnel to run Bielema's system.
