as ive said from my standpoint im not sure what the issue is. especially if the school wants to have a better name for itself in the top fields.

You're making it a binary choice and that doesnt happen in college admissions at large universities.

UF was the worst I have experienced in the SEC. It still wasn't terrible by any means and there were some great fans there that were overly hospitable. They made the trip worth it and worth going back.

The difference was just that UF had the largest amount trash talking fans I have come across. You could be just minding your business walking along campus and they would start yelling stuff, sometimes laced with profanities, with no provocation. Nobody got in anyone's face, tried to start a physical altercation or anything like that. Just a lot of cockiness and assholes.

Then UF got their arse beat and the fans weren't around to say anything.

That is exactly how it is done internally within Professional undergraduate programs within a school. I know at least one program at Auburn that is considered a professional program that selects entrance (Junior year) solely on a sliding GPA (based on seats available). They do it to advertise the program as being elite, but totally turn their backs on Alabama citizens.

what does this mean exactly?
So doesn't the person with the better GPA get in?

So are they letting in the person with better grades?

Purely on grads. Compare that to Auburn's Vet school which breaks down applicants into three areas:

40 Seats for AL residents
40 Seats for KY residents (mutual agreement)
40 Seats for non-AL residents

Not perfect, but it does recognize the taxpayers from AL who have paid for the school.

The program in questioned has a 60/40 AL selection rate, however the denial rate for AL citizens is more like 90/10.

Yes and on the surface that sounds great. But those kids from other states more than likely have a better Secondary education to start the program. So the kids from AL now have to pursue other careers, while they watch kids from FL, GA and TX get their degrees and leave the state afterwards. Fair ?

Only been to one SEC venue other than Kyle Field and had a good time at Jordan Hare.

It is an undergrad program. With great opportunities for employment after graduation.

Seems like a pretty cut throat program if only that amount are let in
I don’t think it’s unfair at all. Especially if Auburn is trying to boost its name

Boost its name where and why ? It had the same placement rate and reputation before they called it a "Professional" program. Now they can add professional fees by calling it that and the result is shortchanging citizens of the State. They are not alone as the only program on campus doing this. Bottom line (as I have been told by a University Administrator) it is about money.

Nationally. To attract more students. And become the elite program
Like the example I used for my business school. It’s been great. We have more people working at big investment banks. The more we have the more recruiters these banks would send to our school yearly. And the more that they’d accept into internship and analyst programs (as before has not been the case due to the name/reputation of the business school)

They were elite before and recognized as such. I have never heard of your program, but I guarantee its reputation is based on the quality of the individuals more than where the school ranks in Forbes magazine. Those rankings are great in drawing those OOS students and their money, but the mission of the school is much more important.

If that’s the case then so no issue, sounds fricked
never really heard of that program, nor know of anything elite at Auburn (not saying we are elite either)

I guess we can disagree here. I want the school to be the best it could be.
Especially the business school, and especially finance.

Birmingham.

I can't believe Alabama used to play any games at all there, much less their biggest games. What a dump of a town (at least in the mid-80s.) It just didn't have any kind of a college game type of experience. Didn't want to hang around at all after the game, ended up driving all night back down to New Orleans.

Been to Athens, Tuscaloosa, Auburn for football. No trouble at any of these places. Don't act like a jack arse and you'll probably be OK.

The only problem I've ever had with an opposing fan was at the Georgia Dome after the 2005 SEC title game. Georgia beat the shite out of LSU, and a drunken Georgia fan decided to yell in the face of my wife and me. I chalked it up to him being a random drunken idiot.

Most people wearing opposing colors are cool in person.

It's not you just misread.

Have to live in a bordering state to get it.

I understood. AU has the same deal with GA counties that border Auburn.

I've been to about half of the stadiums, and Ole Miss was by far the worst. Drunk frat boys getting in my face for no reason.
