Let’s assume JP has decent success at UT and appears capable of building and managing a team that’s an annual contender...and maybe wins an SEC championship in the next 4 years.

There is pretty much zero chance he wouldn’t leave UT if Bama called when Saban leaves.

Now I don’t think Pruitt would be the first call, that will be Jimbo, most likely. However, JP may be on the short list if he makes UT competitive and stays out of trouble.

How devastating would it be to the Vols to finally turn the corner only to watch their coach go home to Bama?

The Vols job is really a tryout for Pruitt.
Dude is a bammer to his redneck core. I won’t be surprised if he claps when they lose to Bama.

Yeah, WORST case scenario is that Pruitt does well enough for Bama to come calling in 4 years.

The worst case scenario for VOLS would be a continuation of the nightmare that has been the post Fulmer era

In all seriousness, taking the chugger job probably will keep him from ever being a HC again after he is fired

The worst case scenario for the Vols has already happened. They're now the 2nd best SEC program in Tennessee and will stay that way forever because the Devil came to collect his due for delivering the 1998 title.

Told y'all to learn how to read so you could examine the contract before signing. But y'all just wouldn't listen.

Vandy fan off the top rope in a thread started by an Alabama fan musing about a worst case scenario that results in VOLS winning an SEC championship

I decided if for some reason this happens either Helton or Sherrer will have been successful coordinators for that long and one of them could take over. Pruitt probably wouldn't want to leave Tennessee though

Saban didn't come to Bama from a winning program, you struck out trying to get a top coach in the college ranks and threw a bunch of money at him after he went 6-10 and wasn't the most popular guy in South Fla. I know he was a transfer to Bama in college, but if he gets it rolling in Knoxville I don't see him leaving to follow Saban. UT can pay top dollar and he won't have as much pressure. Saban is Bama and he would win big at many other schools. Y'all mofos are in for a rude awakening when he leaves.
