Smart does most of the defensive planning at UA but Saban tells him the style of defense to run, same as Chizik. Chizik will tell him prevent style defense where you make them pay for every yard or aggressive etc... BVG will be the one to design the defensive game plan around those parameters.

Okay. You've convinced me. I guess we'll just wait and see if the dumpster fire can be extinguished in the secondary. If anyone can do it, it is Fire Marshall Bill.

BVG will most def be calling the defense, he's bringing to the table the nastiness Chizik wanted

Roof was running the defense but he was running the style Chizik wanted

Actually it does. Chizik and Roof have different defensive philosophies. Chiz is a Tampa 2 guy, Roof is a multiples attacking guy. Chizik made sure he found a guy this time he trust and BVG will have full control.

Chizik was to Roof was Tubs was to Franklin.

no, the games where they gave up 400+ are what came to my mind

OU's defense started tanking around the same time but hey who knows. yall go ahead and convince yourselves that this is brilliant and learn to love the softest zone ever

this video is as damning as any fact i could find. that sooner secondary looks awfully familiar to some i saw a few years ago

Getting torched by Texas Tech and Baylor to the tune of 900 yards and 8 TDs comes to mind. When I watched OU last year, they weren't always terrible in pass defense but I noticed a lot of the same traits that our DBs had when he was here: missed tackles in the open field, blown coverage and not making plays on the ball in the air.

It is pointless discussing this with UGA fans. It is like trying to convince AU fans that Roof is a good coach. (Im still interested to see what Roof can do at Penn St with actual talent.)

They were worse against Texas Tech. I remember watching that game thinking that Stevie Wonder must have been teaching the OU DBs how to make a play on the ball. Then I looked up who their DB coach was and had one of those ohhhhhhhh, now I see moments.

It wasn't talent it was playing all true sophomores and freshmen.

And to the UGAs above how many teams last year didn't give up 400 to Baylor?

i have always kept tabs on OU to see what happened and he really did exactly what i thought and i watched their DBs actually devolve

tigger

how many did so vs Texas Tech

honestly this all wreaks of Stacy Searels to me, i mean LSU wasn't bummed to lose him and when Texas took him from us we weren't bummed at all either. i bet OU fans would agree they won't miss willie
quote:

UWG

better yet, who actually defends a defense that gives up 400 yards passing, regardless of who is the the QB

I just have to ask..

AU played a bunch of young guys in a system that didn't work. The head coach, who is a proclaimed DB and D guru, didn't do it..Roof did. Now those young guys, who have not be coached up, are going to be in a new system.

How much time are the AU fans willing to give?
