UT has an opportunity to be good from just the recruiting standpoint, as north Georgia has great baseball, metro Atlanta has the best prep ball in the country, and Nashville's a big baseball city as well.

He was a good hire for y'all, I'd say ride it out. The SEC is a brutal conference to win. Everyone in the West outside of the Alabama schools is good. Then you have Vandy, Florida and USC that are awesome in the East and UGA should be on the upswing soon. I'll bet he gets it together soon but it may be a year or two before you see it in the record.

Oh I agree, the potential is there. Hell, we even have a lot of good local talent in E. TN. But for some reason, UT never bothered to promote baseball and it's always been "oh, we have a baseball team??" Even the times we've had really good teams it's been like that and it falls squarely on the AD's shoulders because this area does like baseball -- hell when I was a kid our guys won the Little League World Series and my old hometown still has more baseball fields than I've seen in any other place.

However, despite having 2 friends on the baseball team when I was at UT (one who is now a pro), the only time I knew we had a game was when they told me. Again bad AD because we have always been very good at promoting things.

That said, it's slowly changing but UT waited until there was an established minor league team right beside them. The Smokies have been here for something like 15-20 years. There's just a lot of work to do.

Neither can I. The only time I hear about it is on here. But at the same time I think UTAD has done a pisspoor job marketing them. Even if they did better, it wouldn't make me a fan but I do think they could get others.

With UGa trying to rejuvenate their program and as long as Corbin is at Vandy, UT will have to settle for the scraps from either of those areas. Corbin is even pulling almost whatever he wants out of E Tenn. That's just what Serrano is up against right now.

My biggest demand of the baseball program is to not attract any unwanted attention from the NCAA.

Meh, probably not. No one really cares about baseball at UT. I can name more players on the softball roster.
