Bama uses the same process in claiming titles as Notre Dame, USC, Tennessee, Ohio St., Michigan...
And yes, the NCAA recognizes titles and selectors, they just don't award them.
The NCAA actually recognizes Alabama national championships that Bama doesn't claim.
