Whatever.

I'm looking for the same things he is, it's just that I'm realistic enough to realize it won't happen tomorrow.

I will go as far to say that I believe Ole Miss will make it to Atlanta during the next 10 years. Hootie doesn't have the same comfort zone that he had at Arkansas. He will have talent. He knows he's being scrutinized and that might make a difference.

Good point. He's got a better talent pool, but the SEC is a different animal now than it was then though. I hope you're right, but I'm not going to buy into the hope and change just yet.

How about your Hogs, how you feeling going into next year?

It's all about defense. Changes are being made but I'll have to wait and see before reading any more into it. Same as last year, our offense, without doubt, will be good.

Yeah, I'm on the same page.

What are y'all doing to change up the defense, and who is leaving/coming back? I think Arkansas has the pieces and the schedule to make a run, but the defense has me a lil scared.

Porky is one of the few Hogs fans I like, so I'm pumping him a little sunshine while spying on the competition.

We'll still have Willie as DC but some some assistant coaching changes are being made. In recruiting, there will be more emphasis on defense and some younger players will now be in a better position to start. Willie's defensive philosophy can be highly successful with better talent and more experienced talent, as with any scheme, though I'm still not quite convinced of any significant improvement until I see it.

What does he try to do exactly? I didn't get to watch much football with work this year, so I kinda need some direction. If it makes you feel any better, I don't think Arkansas can get any worse.

You're a fricking joke. Of course we have a chance, just like every other team.

Whether or not you have a chance is not the question.

I agree. Defensive strategy isn't my forte but from what I do understand, Willie tends to mix things up quite a bit and likes man coverage, when possible. That's where talent, good coaching, and experience are crucial. I believe we'll see improvement there. Stopping the run is where I'm really concerned. I don't know what's being changed in regard to that, though I hear that changes are being made. It's a bit early to say.

Man coverage can kill you if you don't have the athletes to run it. When it works right, it's the best way to handle things imo, but you gotta have the horses to run that race.

The run game starts with the D-line. I know Arky is losing their best guy there, but what else is behind him. If the line play gets better (aka can get some penitration on running downs) it'll help a lot. If you don't have that, you'll have to send linebackers up to stop the run and it opens up the pass defense to get burned. The good news is with that offense, you just have to be an average SEC defense to make a lot of noise.

I do believe we'll see some improvement on defense due to a lot of players returning. There were games this past season where our defense really shined but they need more consistency. Sheppard will be missed. I'm hoping Willy has 'em ready to play this next year, otherwise there will be a lot of pissed off fans. They have experience. You're right about the guys up front. IMO, that's the backbone on offense and defense.

Re: Ole Miss, I think you guys will have a better year than Nutt had during his third year at Arkansas. Nathan Stanley Raymond Cotton will be an interesting change at QB. Who do you think will be the starter?
