ITT: Auburn and Arkansas fans grasping at straws in am attempt to feel better about themselves.
There is ZERO chance that anyone in th Peterson family solicited money, and ZERO chance anyone on the LSU staff under Miles would pay. Look what we did to DJ McCarthy for phone calls...

quote:Yes, if they are doing it on your behalf. That is why the NCAA wanted/wants some proof of Cam;s knowledge of Cecil's solicitation.
actually that is an interesting argument
if your family member seeks money on your behalf... don't they become an agent in the eyes of the NCAA?

Cam Newton to Auburn... $200k
Pat Peterson to LSU... $80k
Tressel going down over tatoos... PRICELESS!

quote:If the first time LSU used Complete Scouting (Lyles company) was in 2010, why is everyone trying to link LSU to Lyles back in 2007 when PP7 was being recruited. If Lyles had never dealt with LSU coaches back in 2007, I find it hard to believe that he just picked up the phone and asked for a P4P deal. I know the ESPN article uses the $6k payment from LSU to Complete Scouting to link LSU to Lyles but the timeline makes no sense.
Per the invoice to LSU assistant Brick Haley and paid 12/21/10, the Tigers paid Will Lyles 6K for JUCO film of California and Kansas

I'm betting we won't get any more than the self imposed penalties we've put on ourselves.

Exactly. Very good points. And the salient points of the Van Malone accusation don't add up either. Neither Malone nor Lyles ever mentioned LSU. And why would Malone not tell his head coach or anyone at A&M about Lyles or wait three years to tell anyone else?
None of it makes sense.

will also go on record in saying that I have a bad feeling that LSUs house of cards is about to crumble due to recruiting impropriety. Let's face it, Miles is not that bright and I have always been amazed that he has been able to recruit like he has in view of his communication skills...or lack thereof. With that being said, perhaps he is just good at cheating.
Fortunately your feelings have little or nothing to with the outcome of this situation. If you think Miles isn't bright, you haven't been paying attention. He is plenty bright. He is somewhat awkward with the press, but otherwise he actually is a pretty good communicator. Just ask his players.
To speculate that he is good at cheating indicates either a bias against him with no actual facts or poor evaluation of the facts that are known so far. It also unfair when what we do actually knows indicates he has been a pretty stand up guy.

PP7 is innocent and LSU is innocent, 'Cecil Peterson' asked for it and no-one else knew anything about it! Sound familiar, it worked for Cam?

Can I add Cam's dad being shocked comment?

"This is my first time hearing this. This is a shocker," Peterson Sr. told ESPN. "It could have happened. It could have come out of [Lyles'] mouth, that's what happens. These guys try to make money on their own, they are kind of like escort services. That's what I call them, escort services."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
quote:

The NCAA and football teams aren't the only ones with a stake in how this is handled. Consider the families, too. Seastrunk's mother, for one, is miffed. "Willie said he was a trainer," Evelyn Seastrunk told ESPN.com. "Now Oregon says he's a scout? Is he on Oregon's payroll? If Willie Lyles collected $25,000 off my son he needs to be held accountable. The NCAA must find out for me. I don't know how to digest someone cashing in on my son."
quote:
"If Rogers tried to solicit money from Mississippi State, he did it on his own, without our knowledge," Cecil Newton said.
The brutal honesty I get from reading these parent's comments leads me to believe the kids' families knew nothing of the alleged payments.
Lyles must really be a snake. Was he enough of a snake to actually talk the kids into going to one school or another without offering any money to them?
Did he tell all of the schools the same story about another school being willing to pay the money just to get a school to pay the money?
Did the schools actually pay the money?
If the parents didn't know Lyles was asking for it, was Lyles sitting there with his fingers crossed hoping a school might pay him?
Should Seastrunk be hurt that Lyles only asked $20,000 for him?

Except we're not dealing with pieces of trash like the Newton family. No stolen laptops. No shady churches, none of that.
The two situations could not be more different.
Sorry that went over your head.

WTF does Arkansas have to do with this? We aren't paying players or even being accused of doing so.

The assistant never told TAMU, because he wanted to contact PP directly. The school was making him go through Lyles, not PP.
So if Lyles didnt have any influence on where PP goes, why would TAMU feel compelled to go thru Lyles?
Sorry, but your logic doesn't make any sense.
