What two freshmen from Georgia did is what two freshmen did. It's symptomatic of the community as a whole, but it isn't indicative (Says a lot more about the south and freshmen than it does Ole Miss). It's anecdotal evidence.
What happened when Meredith was admitted was indicative of a sick community. Significant rehabilitation has transformed Oxford town since then. Down the road in Tuscaloosa, the cough wasn't as bad so they didn't seek treatment. That's why they integrated the Greek system in 2014 and why their public schools are segregated today.
