No accusation or allegation in Auburn post. Never said NCAA rules broken. But is arrangement typical? We'll soon find out.

You are exactly the type of dumbass Brooks goes for. He knows when he frames an article the way he did, dumbasses such as yourself will blindly believe it and accept it as 100% truth.

I'm trying to figure the relevance of someone being Greg Robinson's 'friend' on facebook in an article about tigerettes being paid.

Instead, Melchior wrote a long piece about some Auburn Tigerettes getting paid and that some of them became Facebook friends with a former recruit after he enrolled in school. He dug out some old quotes and pretended he had a scoop.

Melchior, no doubt, would say that he wrote nothing in the piece that wasn’t true. But he did exactly what set out to do. He gave the impression that the Tigerettes had done something wrong.

This applies to every story he has written. You can find more analysis/research on bleacher report.

There is no relevance, the Tigerettes should not become friends DURING recruitment as this can be construed as a contact, but she accepted his friendship in MAY which is perfectly OK. This was just Brooks putting something else in the article to feed the Updyke crowd, they took it..

Just because there's a document showing a person getting paid on certain dates, doesn't mean that person was being paid specifically to be a Tigerrette.

I don't really care either way, but unless you were the person authorizing the payments, then you don't know specifically what they were being paid for.

Seems to me that if you are going to 'volunteer' for an 'unpaid' position within the AD, then you shouldn't be allowed to have a paid position within the very same department, as it opens up a very slippery slope.

Again, I'm not saying that anything illegal has taken place, so spare me with your 'tin foil hat' comments - but if you, as an AU fan, can't see how this doesn't look weird, then you need to take of the blue/orange glasses.

Jesus, how is student workers getting paid considered 'weird'?

I think it's 'weird' that LSU pays a Will Lyles 6000 when that same Will Lyles is providing outdated info to Oregon.

Well then. Phillip Marshall, that bastion of honesty and beacon of light said things were so. That settles that. After all, he's never lied, or insinuated things about other schools or people and has only ever written factual, truthful articles.

Link me an article where he's told a flat out lie or STFU.

You were the main dumbass blindly believing SBB's article. You're a sheep.

Talk about having to read slowly...

Nothing is weird about a student worker getting paid for completing his/her duties for an actual paid position. But, when you have students who are getting paid for 'real' jobs within the AD, and are part of the group that volunteers with recruiting HS athletes...

In those instances, do you not agree that it could be very easy for the school to hide payments to the student for the 'work' they did in helping to land a recruit, by paying them for work they did in there regular paid position?

Do you not agree that if those who volunteered for a non-paying position, were also not allowed to work for the university in a paid capacity, then it would cut out any perceived improprieties?

here is my view on this whole deal.

everyone associated to the AD at AU knows people are looking for anything to string us up on. knowing this, and working within the AD - paid or not, your gonna be subjected to stuff liek this - and if you don't get some thick damned skin fast, then its gonna break you down.

is it right? probly not - but it is the culture we live in.
