I think you overestimate how much Pickens is worth and underestimate the amount of money involved in college football.

That is insufficient to constitute legal standing under article iii. He would need to show that he personally has suffered or will suffer a discrete injury. The case would be tossed quickly.

Teams that compete for national championships do not lose to shitty teams and programs like Iowa State.

I'm sure you had the same opinion in 2007? Correct? Right? Surely you did?

Crimson Saint, absolutely I did. And I think LSU could have 2 more NC's from the past 10 years if we had a playoff system in place. I've been following college football since the 1960's when the NC was awarded before the bowl games. The current BCS system is much better now than how things were decided in 1960's. The reason for polls comes from the beginnings of college football. National travel could take days and a playoff system for football games was not feasible. Can you believe poll voters would decide the best teams without having ever seen a team play a game? Yes, that's right, no TV, just waiting to get your newspaper on your front porch to find out which teams won their games until everyone had radios. Today is much different and a playoff system would work great. Every game would count with the best teams playing in a playoff to decide the true NC.

TBP should focus his attention on the B12. They are the idiots that prevented a better system. The B12 (meaning UO & UT) didn't see this coming. If UT or UO was in OK ST's position, they would probably be in the game.

This should (further) help SEC recruiting! Perfect!

Exactly.

1) Pickens has no standing to sue. OSU could sue and Pickens could financially back them.

2) Damages would be easy to show, but OSU would have to show that the BCS agreement that they signed has been breached. It has not been breached in any way. They agreed to the polls that would be used. The majority of these polls favored Alabama.

The only way a suit could remotely be successful would be if they could prove a mathematical error in the BCS calculations or an instance of bribery with the poll voters. Then they would have to prove that if not for the miscalculation/bribery, OSU would be #2. That is a lot to prove in 1 month, and no judge is going to place an injunction on the national title game without a lot of evidence.

Chalk this one up to UT. They pushed the longhorn network on everyone else and ended up destroying their conference. OSU had no conference championship game, and now the Big 12 has all kinds of turnover and members running for the exits. To top it off the longhorns are still crying about Colt McCoy in 09'.

There would still be bitching because if a playoff was held this year.

If it was an 8 team playoff, you would have to conclude the way the teams selected would have to be from the BCS rankings if bowl games were kept, the should be no conference tie-ins to the playoff, the conference champions who are not in the top 8 would be AQs to a BCS bowl game.

LSU vs Kansas State
Stanford vs Oregon
Oklahoma State vs Arkansas
Bama vs Boise

The SEC would have 3 teams, B12 two, Pac two. The Big1G, ACC, and Big east would be throwing a fit.

If you expand it to 16 teams, The SEC would have 5 teams, big12 4, Pac 2, ACC 2, Big1G 2.

they were always #3. he doesn't have standing to sue. there is nothing he can sue for, anyway
Unless you have inside info on the Sagarin "model", I'm not sure you can say that.

Even if they had been ahead of us in the Sagarin and all the other computers, they still didn't get the required human votes.

I heard Brad Edwards say that. It doesn't appear to be accurate.

This a excellent point. If the B12 had not driven NU, ATM, & Mizzou out of the conference, OSU would have had the chance to win a 12th game & would have been a lock for NCG if they had won.

T. Boone needs to address his anger at the former commissioner of his own conference. the SEC posed a +1 playoff years ago and the only conferences that supported it were the SEC & ACC. They can blame themselves.
