Will Arkansas Basketball ever recover?

1 NC, 1 Runner Up, 6 Final Fours, 10 Elite 8's, 14 Sweet 16's, 30 NCAA Bids
24 Overall Conference Titles, 7 Conference Tournament Titles
A 20,000 seat PALACE and 16 Straight Years of Top 10 Attendance Averages
Nolan and Eddie: 650-245, 2nd most successful team of the 90's
So, my question is: WTF has happened?!?!?!?!?!?!
Clearly, Arkansas has the facilities, fanbase, and tradition that is only trumped by Kentucky (As far as the SEC goes). Now the NCAA is "inquiring" about the possibility of "handlers" being funneled money during the recruiting process.
Does this mean we can't even win by cheating?
Thoughts?

That's how it feels.

Probably for a little while after that, too.

It seems that Arky Bball has fallen off the face of the earth.
The Nolan firing really was handled badly and from a outsider, the program never recovered from that time.
I think it is going to be a uphill climb. The only thing I think will turn it around at this point is to overpay for some name coach who might be able to pull the program back up. Doesn't look good and hurts the SEC IMHO, league needs Arky bball to be a leader

not all have what it takes to be an LSU fan. Pioneer tried to make the switch midseason and has since not posted. I think the heavy drinking part of being an LSU fan was taking a toll on him

STATE is what happened!!!!
j/k
I was thinking about this earlier though. It sucks big time when the basketball "powers" are down for the SEC. I think you can turn it around. It's finding the right coach. You're facilities and fan support are there.

I just don't understand how any coach can come to Arkansas with the facilities and fan support that we have and not get tons of recruits.
Granted, Fayetteville and NWA isn't a very "black" area, so maybe that holds us back to some degree.
Still, any recruit who comes to Fayetteville for a basketball game and sees 17k turn out for some crappy team should walk away impressed.
I KNOW Stan Heath was a mistake, but the admin felt they needed to hire a black guy after the Nolan mess.
Nolan left pretty much when he wanted to. He was only fired after he said publicly that "if they will pay me my money I'll leave".
He was always a hot head, but a great recruiter and coach. And of course he turned it into a racial mess and given that he was pointing the finger at Frank Broyles, there was probably some truth to what he was saying.
As much as I hate to say it, I'm really surprised we haven't gotten Calipari. I know we can afford him. Hell, we can afford anybody we want.

Calipari's going to Lexington, once they make up their mind to fire old Inbred.

Man, Calipari has it made every damn year. He's not leaving for anyone.

I agree with this. Why would he leave Memphis as ridiculous as that sounds?

That money must not have lasted past the Oklahoma game

No reason to leave.Doesn't have to leave the city to recruit, he owns the conference and that city has always been about Tiger basketball, first last and only

Memphis owns the CUSA... he gets all the recruits he could ever want/need. As long as he gets paid, he's not leaving.
And no, I don't even think he'd leave for Kentucky. I could be wrong on that, however.
