I hope not. He signed a 10 year deal at FAU. After seeing what he did in year one I’m anxious to see how he does this year. I think he’s happy with where he’s at, low expectations, yet still a hero. He’s in a position to start landing transfers looking for a chance to win. I could see him using CUSA to build FAU into a perineal top 25 program.

My youngest daughter teaches at FAU. (Happily married and with two of my grandchildren so no ... )

I can tell you that Kiffin is worshipped down there. He's the biggest local celebrity by far ... not even close. When he walks around campus, which he does regularly, interacting with the faculty and students, they flock to him. And yes, he is a big hit with the ladies down there.

He loves it there. He wants to build the program and he has total carte blanche to-do pretty-much anything he wants. Local business has gone wild for him too. He's always doing local commercials for various businesses from a car dealership to a clothing store to a restaurant ... I've seen them and he does a good job. The guy is very personable.

I don't see him leaving anytime soon.

He's currently dating a smoke show super model type, I think she is either a doctor or attorney (I can't remember, but one of the two) ten years his junior.

He'd be nuts to leave there and climb back into the SEC grind. I just do not see it happening. He's a big time attention whore and he is the main man down there with no competition. Now, could he find a way to screw it all up? Absolutely. But I'm pretty sure he is well aware that this is the job that will make or break his legacy. He's also made some references to Schnellenberger publicly, and talked about how good of friends they've become.

If Kiffin leaves FAU it'll be for one thing ... a pro job and, even then, he'd probably stay in the area. Miami Dolphins maybe. Just sayin'.

Will those at Ole Miss that matter forget the issues that Lane's brother had at Ole Miss against Lane?

You talking about David Reeves, his former brother-in-law? That guy is a scumbag, I knew him personally. Total scumbag. Even Kiffin didn't trust him ... and that's saying something.

I think everyone is forgetting that Lane is a shitty coach.

Lane seems too Hollywood for Ole Miss. Even Knoxville wasn’t big enough for Lane. I think the only SEC schools that would work for Lane are those that get the most national interest and/or an hour away from a major city - Bama, UGA, UF, LSU.

Of those schools, it looks like LSU is the only one that might come open in next two years. Regarding Bama, Lane might be one of the few head coaches at another school arrogant enough to take over after Saban. Only a fool HC leaves a good job to succeed Saban and try and maintain that perfection. Lane seems to have some fool in him.

I hope he builds FAU like Boise was built.

Wouldn’t mind seeing FAU make some noise and knock off a big dog

If LSU is so broke that the only coach they could afford is Orgeron, then they’ll pick up Kiffin for cheap without a doubt.

LSU just approved raises for several coaches in the LSU Athletics department, and some as high as 48%. Someone just posted on this board earlier this week a list of all the universities revenue and LSU was 5th on that list .

Correct, and the athletic department is separate from the financial woes of the University. All SEC programs split the tv revenue evenly and all athletic programs are well funded because of it. The athletic departments also make deals on merchandising with large corporations and bring in big bucks, as well as alumni donations to athletic departments, and revenue from ticket sales as well. Some schools may have some financial problems, but all athletic departments in the conference are money making machines.

It's my personal opinion that we offered him and he declined.

I think we talked with him but JCP was determined to get a coach with major ties to Texas.

And there is a lot to be said for that. Even if we don't put up lots of wins and Chad Morris gets shown the door in a few years he will at least have rehabilitated our relationships with Texas and Arkansas HS schools. In order to have long term success (barring a freak occurrence like Petrino stepped into with the single greatest crop of Arkansas WRs ever popping up out of the blue along with an NFL level QB) we need to reestablish those ties to Texas while still recruiting the rest of the South.

That’s exactly right, and that’s why I responded to that poster accordingly. LSU had the money to give Jimbo but they weren’t going to pay the man 7.5 million a year.
If LSU wants to part ways with Orgeron money will certainly not be an issue with firing him or paying the new coach

Why? He'd be extremely dangerous at LSU.

I wouldn't totally be against the hire. But think there may be better alternatives that would be safer bets in lieu of concerns over recruiting tactics, banging coeds scandals, and job jumping again.
