Will 2023 Bama also be their worst team since 2007?

We've heard this statement every year since the last championship in 2017 (2020 = asterisk year with girl kickers and 5 win teams in the playoffs, don't lie to yourself).

Will 2023 continue the trend?

Other teams don’t actually get better, bama just isn’t as good as they’re supposed to be.

It's injuries and bad officiating!

Yep. I just posted this in another thread:

quote:

It's kinda funny how they have a new "worst team of the Saban era" every time they lose to LSU.

Fun fact: Alabama is 2-2 vs. LSU over the last 4 seasons.

Their losses? 2019(who they say wasn't really that great), and 2022(who they now say is the worst SEC West champion in 20 years.

Their wins? The 2020 covid team who could barely take the field and a 2021 team with a fired coach.

What's the proper oof size for that fun fact?

Bama lost to JIMBO FISHER of all people in 2021. I completely forgot about that. What a train wreck of a program.

Even LSU managed to beat jumbo last year.

LSU has beaten Alabama a grand total of 5 times over 15 years.

2007, 2010, 2011, 2019 and 2022.

All while averaging around 10 wins a season. Say what you want, LSU had a great run through run throughout the 2010s for a moderately well known brand. But using the 2-2 stat is dumb and attaching conditions is something a subpar program’s fan does, like Tennessee.

Relatively, when Alabama sucks and LSU is great, LSU barely wins. (See 2019 and 2011) When Alabama is great and LSU sucks, LSU gets the doors blown off of them. (See 2015, 2018 and 2020)

EarlyCuyler said this one doesn’t count either. Split title with UCF.

Every time? It’s happened twice since 2011

One team was depleted with injuries and the worst defense Saban had in over a decade, the other is this team.

Worst team at Bama means something different than at programs that go 2 years without a winning season

Bama has quite a few more championships over that span than LSU…including a 21-0 tea bagging in your own shitty dome stadium.

Your reading comprehension needs some help.

The charge:

quote:

LSU has beaten Alabama a grand total of 5 times over 15 years.

My question:

quote:

What team has done better?

This is a compliment, by the way. What Saban has done is unprecedented, and LSU has beaten his Alabama teams as many times as any other team.

Only Auburn matches that, in fact.

I don't understand all of this decline talk. They lost two games at the last second. They are fine and will be in the national title hunt next year.

Sure they have had some close games, but they are not in a decline.

Sure, but they're going to have tougher games from Tennessee and LSU now.

And Auburn if they make a good hire.

I will go out on a limb and say more likely to be best ever rather than worst. Just checking the data available.
