They could land a top coach with the right package of money and control. UT is in wayyyyy better shape than it was 3 years ago. Talent wise they will be even better next year. And the east is wide open with UGA having a weak coach and UF still somewhat in a transition phase. Now that South Carolina is back to shite, UT should be able to raid that state for recruits like they used to.

Nice 5-0 prediction, cochise. You are a football mastermind.

Alabama fans keep wistfully talking about UT like this. This has been said for almost a decade. Yet, here they sit in the ashes of Lane and Doolander. Maybe one day all of these factors will conflate like you say, but it hasn't happened yet. Continuing to predict it seems silly at this point.

It's not. No good coach wants that job. No recruiting base, a stadium that is a POS, terrible AD, and a bunch of losers on scholarship.
Bottom 5 job in SEC.

rumor mill has it that Jones punched Crowder at practice in the offseason. If true he would be fired without a buyout

We've had back to back top five Rivals recruiting classes even though we have been down for ten years.
Our recruiting is actually unprecedented in how good it is relative to the on field success.
So it's very weird that recruiting is always the first thing people that shite talk the UT job talk about.

You've taken 30 players a year and mortgaged the future on the guys you have now. If you can't win with them, you can't take a full allotment of new guys to start over with. Your ranking is high because of the amount of commitments taken. Surely, you realize this.

No. Rivals only measures the top 20 players if each class. Nice try though.

So..., if true, it only became a problem for officials at the University once Butch's teams lost a few games to superior teams and is being used as an excuse to not pay money owed for a potential firing based on wins/losses?
Have fun with the lawsuit.

Why would UT be an appealing job to a top drawer coach
Bankruptcy is why they have the clown they have now.

So you don't see an advantage of a ranking the looks at only the top 20 in a class that took 30?

Not really. Even Curley Hallman had decent recruiting classes at LSU, and we were as pitiful a program as you will ever see when that doofus was in charge

No. I really dont.
Houston Nutt must have been the greatest recruiter of all time using your logic.

recruiting rankings didn't exist when CH was coach, so your post is pure supposition.
