DB Teague, Wagner, Moore, Brewer started last year and they all returned for 2012. they were decent under Wilcox.
Wilcox wasn't the best DC in the nation but he was very solid for the most part. good enough to keep us in games. his performance at UT in 2010~2011 is underrated imo. UT had a very young team.

Oh yah, 10 of 11 starters returned from 11 to 12, and we added McCullers and Sentimore to our roster.
Holy hell that's an absolutely shocking level of regression

Somewhere Wilcox is laughing.

Don't forget Brian Randolph, arguably our best DB, was hurt for the season in the Florida game. That didn't help either.

I don't think so, he's the one that left. If he was let go, sure. But he was probably laughing before all of this...

Didn't the UT AD refuse to rehire Dooley's assistants? WTF do you expect? Basically a entire new set of coaches.

scheme change could lead to some growing pains, but it shouldn't lead to 115th ranked defense in the nation and statistically the worst Tennessee defense since 1893.

I watched several UT games this year and saw one of the worst secondaries I have ever seen. If you hadn't lost those starting DB's right before the year I don't think it would have been nearly as bad. Do you have any other examples other than the ones that the announcer had to point out for you?
umm, damn near 50% of the snaps our D played this season. I don't think we had a game where the opposing team didn't convert a 3rd and 20+. Sunseri is a terrible, terrible defensive coordinator.
Like all time bad, I don't think there's been a defensive coordinator in SEC history that's caused a unit to regress that drastically.
He should stay away from play calling and stick to uncontrollably stuffing meatballs and pasta down his gullet.

Especially when you consider that they played just as much nickel, if not more, than they did the 3-4 set.

I'd say Sal is probably at fault.
Trey Burton could out run your secondary. That is a problem.

We were outside the top 25, but you are on point.

it was close then. 30 or something like that.
Either way, the fact remains that if the defense plays on par(same players) to their 2011 season we win 8 or 9 regular season games this year.
probably win USC, UGA, and MSU.
