No but you don't understand what it is to live in the rivalry 365 days a year.

This. We're already talking shite about next season.

Hell it started months ago when the Iron Bowl was over, just start looking to the next year.

Makes a world of difference when you work with, live with, live around and have to see your rival's fans everyday instead of a couple days a year or a few scattered fans in your area.

How many great BCS National Championships have we had? 2003 Fiesta and 2006 Rose are the only two that come to mind.

Ohio State over Miami in 03.
Texas over USC in 06.

09 was good with Florida over Oklahoma and then 11 was the best of them.

can you argue that it wasn't the best game regardless of the outcome?

Not all the games were great, but the only title games I'd consider boring were LSU-OSU and OU-FSU. OU-FSU didn't offer many points, and LSU beat a clearly less talented OSU team that may have been the worst participant in the title game so far.

FSU-VT was very close for about 3 quarters, IIRC, and Florida-OU was entertaining because all the offensive hype built around the game. The Miami and USC wins weren't competitive, but they were fun to watch. Both great teams abusing an opponent.

In what way is it better than Texas over USC or even Ohio State over Miami?

Don't be deceived by scores. Tennessee had Florida State handled for much of the game. I don't think Tennessee ever trailed in the game.

2003 Fiesta Bowl is a classic.

The 2004 Sugar Bowl again wasn't all that exciting and LSU's defense had Oklahoma stumped for much of the game. It was 21-7 for most of the second half.

2006 Rose Bowl is a classic.

2009 BCS was good but not great.

2010 BCS was only tense for all of ten minutes. The game wasn't that good at all.

The 2011 BSC was good but not great.

The 2006 Rose Bowl was the best game for three reasons:

1) The hype surrounding it
2) It lived up to the hype
3) It came down to the final seconds

The 2011 BCS title had very little hype surrounding it. It was a good game, don't get me wrong, but it can't be considered the best because it just didn't have that much going for it in terms of hype and star power.

The 2006 Rose Bowl had super stars playing in the game. USC was a two-time defending national champion and Texas was a high-powered juggernaut led by Vince Young. Both teams were knee-deep in tradition, undefeated, and had amazingly passionate fan bases. And lastly, there was no denying that two of the best teams in college football history were squaring off against each other that night.

The ratings that night were through the roof and the game was as intense and as exciting as any ever played on a college football field. The Auburn game, while close, was boring in parts. The 2006 Rose Bowl was exciting THROUGHOUT.

Also, the 2006 Rose Bowl included arguably the greatest individual single-game performance in recent memory.

no hype? what rock were you under? It was hyped way more than it should have been. The only thing was that the defenses were out to prove something on both sides of the ball and the offenses never really got going on either team.

a last second field goal to win the game is a pretty damn good finish.

Agreed

It was a glorified extra point set up by a fluke run. It was an exciting ending, but let's not pretend that it was better than Vince Young's two late drives to beat a USC team that would have murdered either team on the field this past title game.

And yet its ratings finished in the middle of the pack as far as BCS national championship viewers are concerned.

So is a 4th and 5 run into the end zone from ten yards out, down four points, with only seconds remaining.

Not that it matters, but they were down 5 points.

I am a TCU fan and support the fact that the TCU Athletic Department is claiming a 2010 national championship, but I am against a playoff

It's true. They colored in the national championship portion on their pyramid, and the rings are going to say national champions I think. There's really nothing the NCAA can do about it since they don't recognize a champion
