Why shouldn't some other 1 loss team that's actually beaten someone (GT) or some undefeated team that's beaten someone (AU/Michigan) be ranked higher?

This is true...but I guess to be in the rankings, you have to get yourself into the top 25, which takes more than one year to do.

I think you've answered your question..SC has EARNED, by virtue of a decade of Top 10 teams, the benefit of the doubt. Ole Miss hasn't.

Same reason AU/GT/Michigan aren't ranked ahead of Ole Miss, yet.

Well thanks for helping me see the light!
I guess I am just hating on them because everyone else kisses their asses...

SC went on the road and beat a decent team. Ole Piss hadn't played anyone and the first time they did they looked like shite......that might have something to do with it.

AU/Michigan

Neither team has played a road game yet.

Neither team has beaten an opponent currently in the top 25.

But if you want to crown them, crown their arse.

Considering they received no votes going into the season, it's not ridiculous that they aren't ranked right now. That's just the way it is and how the poll works.

AU has beaten 3 teams that are better than anyone OM has beaten (LT, MSU, WVU).

Michigan has beaten 2, 3-1 BCS opponents (Indiana, ND).

I'm not saying either team is great (or that UGA is), but they have better resumes than Ole Miss. Just like USC has a better resume than Ole Miss.

As is the fact that Southern Cal gets more leeway than Ole Miss, just how the polls work. When you suck for 4+ decades and then get your arse kicked on National TV in your first real game, you drop like a rock.

What does Ole Miss have to do with any of this?

I'm not saying AU and Michigan aren't good, but they have played 0 road games... that's all I'm saying.

Look what happened win Pac-10 "contender" Washington left their home stadium after 3 impressive home games, the consequently got tbagged by the juggernaut Stanford Cardinal.

If Auburn wins this weekend on the road they will be ranked. HTH

WTF? Maybe you should read the first post of the thread, quoted for you below..

I have just come to realize that after losing to Washington, USC had ONLY moved from 3rd to 12th(or 13th)...BUT Ole Miss looses to South Carolina and has moved all the way down to 21st from 4th???? I don't get it! If we would have lost to Washington, we probably wouldn't have even been in the top 25. I don't think it's fair. Just my 2 cents!

Prayers are sent to Stafon Johnson though!

Do we know that they are a decent team?

USC has earned their reputation year after year, Ole Miss hasn't. When Ole Miss wins on a consistant basis then they too will get the benefit of the doubt.
USC is going through the same thing we (LSU)are going through. They had to replace their QB also and like ours he is a young man (18-19). I see USC losing at least 3 games this year, which is unacceptable to them by their standards. Ole Miss would be so satisfied with a 3 loss season and would celebrate it as a success.

As much as I believe that USC all too often gets the benefit of the doubt, they had beaten a highly ranked Ohio State before losing on the road. Ole Miss, on the other hand had looked pretty bad against Memphis and had beaten nobody of interest before losing to South Carolina. Had Ole Miss have beaten Ohio State or a similar team prior to its loss, the Rebels would be ranked higher. This is the kind of stuff you see in the polls early in the season. Now, the USC bias usually starts to become more apparent later in the season.

I never said anything about Ole Miss, I was talking about AU and Michigan. OM had nothing to do with my first post.

As always, I hope this helps.

I agree but I also cut USC Trojans some slack because they recruit so well every year. LSU fans may get down on our team this year but just think if we were USC. Pete Carroll only has "1" BCSNC.

JUST ONE!!!

Nobody... but we've only played 3 games.

Obviously everyone's problem here is with polls, which are imperfect and flawed to begin with.

Ohio state isn't great but they are way better than any team Ole Piss had played until last thursday. Don't they have back to back shutouts now? What has Ole Piss done? What have their opponents done?

It couldn't possibly be because USC also has a quality road win on their resume while Ole Miss has jack.
