As an LSU fan I have no standing from which to answer this.

Kiffin and Drink have done nothing.
Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer are wholely responsible for the 90’s-2000’s rise of the SEC.
Saban left Miles a foundation at LSU that was ready to win multiple championships, and it took Les ~10 years to run it into the ground. And he of course built Bama and taught Kirby everything he knows
Spurrier built Florida, which Zook almost ruined in 5 years, but Meyer was able to salvage what was left and turn it into a powerhouse. Spurrier tried to do the same at USC, but didn't have the resources and was past him prime at that point, but still turned what was a joke into a legitimate program
Richt had Georgia on the brink of being a contender, but it took Kirby(from the school of Saban) taking over and getting them over the hump

bullshite. Stop acting like all jobs are equal. Kiffin and Drink making their respective school players on a national level is unprecedented for both schools. Both guys may never win a natty but they are top 10-15 head coaches in the sport.

The name Gary Pinkel ring a bell? And Kiffin has built a perennial 3 game loser, it’s respectable regionally, but not a nationally relevant team

I think one reason there is more parity this year is the 3 high safety look teams started using recently to defend the spread.
I know OSU uses it, but not sure about the others..
The pendulum is turning back imo..

Drink has elevated the program over what Pinkel did.
Do you know Ole Miss's history? Mississippi is a state where historically and pretty much up until Freeze and Kiffin the best players from that state go to LSU, Bama, and Auburn. Ole Miss hasn't even been respectable regionally before Kiffin. What Kiffin has done at Ole Miss is akin to what Matt Campbell has done at ISU but Kiffin has done a more impressive job. Ole Miss has never been on par with Bama, LSU until Kiffin. And, Ole Miss has clearly surpassed Auburn.

Good question.
used to be it was the SEC that had the best defenses.

Pinkel had Mizzou on the brink of the BCS CG and went to the SEC CG b2b years
Nobody outside of the SEC cares about Ole Miss, they’re irrelevant

The B10 + ND teams who make the playoff recently always seem to have a couple dozen 5th year seniors on both sides of the ball. There's something to be said about cohesion.
The thing that's impressed me about ND, tOSU, ND, and Michigan last year is simple: blocking & tackling. They've got older guys who just block and tackle really well.

The sec worsened offensively. Prime bama offense would hang 42 on these squads. They just aren’t good offensively anymore. It’s like we are all big 10
