Is he in spring practice this year? That would obviously help.
Yup enrolled in January. Word is he only leaves the football facilities to sleep.

I'll be shocked if Cam Newton is a good SEC QB this year.

That is the popular thought among UF fans.

... but in the SEC, relying on a JUCO for anything his first year, especially @ QB, is never a good situation for your team.
Terrance Cody worked out pretty well for Alabama. James Carpenter too.

I imagine your opinion would be completely different if he was still at UF....

Probably not because he would not be starting at UF...

My opinion was the same when he was at UF. Great runner. Horrible passer.
He had a pretty deep ball, but his short and intermediate stuff was garbage.
6-18 in a spring game? Are you kidding me?
At best, Cam Newton would be playing the Tim Tebow role this year at UF, similar to 2006 when Chris Leak ran the show.

And someone can't improve? Ok...

They are the exceptions, but not the rule.
JUCO QBs coming into the SEC and playing near an ALL-SEC level has never happened.

like i have said. he was going to transfer but then rethought. why would he go to sam houston state and play but never make the league or wait 2 years (possibly beat out cam this year) and start for an SEC team.

No one is asking him to be all SEC...that is not a requirement for him...
Greg McElroy is not a very good QB, but guess what? He doesn't have to win all the games for us, just can't lose them for us.

Does Auburn have Bammer's running game or defense? Not so much. McElwain won't put as much pressure on the QB, either.
Malzhan runs a pass happy offense, and Newton has a lot to prove as far as being an accurate passer is concerned.
TBD.
